What is the difference between a Cruise Missle Launcher II and a 'Arbalest' Cruise Launcher I besides being able to use tech 2 missiles?
From what I can see they have the same rate of fire but the tech 2 requires more resources on your ship. If I dont plan on using tech 2 missles should I just stick with the Arbalest?
I run a Domi drone boat currently and am concidering training for a Rattlesnake. |

You get 2% more damage per level of the advanced spec skill - so 8% (no-one trains it to 5 do they??!!)
EDIT - I just checked and its actually 2% increase to rof per level. |

But does the launcher itself give any extra advantage? I could get those skills and still use the Arbalest and have the same damage from the way I read it. |

IIRC, like most other tech 2 versions, there is a skill that affects fittings that require that skill. I.E advanced rockets gives a 2% increased RoF to all modules requiring that skill (the tech 2 rocket launchers). So, while the BASE RoF and all the other stats may be identical, the tech 1 named versions don't benefit from the "advanced" skills. So, if you have the time investment, it sometimes ends up being cheaper to fit tech2 launchers over the best named because the demand is lower (especially in the case of rockets). |

Yep as Ezekeil says (I think!) the bonus only applies to tech 2 launchers, or more precisely "2% bonus per level to the rate of fire of modules requiring Cruise Missile Specialization. " |

Ah ok, I just didnt read the skill right. I didnt realize that it only affected modules that required that skill.

Dont forget the missile capacity, t2 launchers hold many more missiles so you gotta reload less often.. Increses dps by quite a bit |

Anyone done the maths on the DPS of Faction (Cal Navy) Cruise launchers vs their t2 counterpart after figuring in the t2 8% or 10% ROF bonus. |

a raven shooting tech 1 missiles has 8 more dps with CN cruise launchers than tech 2 and spec lvl V... without BCUs with 5 BCUs its 15 more dps.
Fury missiles have a slight advantage at lvl 5 compared to DG cruise missiles.. and its a bit bigger if its CN cruise missiles.
That is assuming you can apply the extra damage from Fury.
At level spec level 4 there is still a tiny advantage for fury missiles.
one thing to keep in mind though... CN launchers will hold more missiles, delaying when you have to reload.. in some cases that might put them back on top no matter what the tech2 launchers have loaded.
Oh and tech 1 missiles work against a wider selection of targets, further reducing the time lost due to reloading when switing to a target of a different size. |

Fury missiles are pretty damn awesome, and a good bit cheaper than faction missiles.
but why handicap yourself with t1 missiles? |
