Anyone else getting this? Internet works fine but can't get more than 3 minutes of game time.
Seems also like I go afk for 2 minutes and I get cut off as well. currently finding exploration impossible.

Linksys somethingorother
I've already decided its days are numbers. Specifically it has 1 day left
Was just wondering if there was something specific that triggered these kinds of connection loss. Like maybe Eve has an "You look afk so disconnecting you" policy or something? Bloodline: Khaldari Research Services BPO Shop KPA Recruiting! |

This is not a router problem, I have cable b/band as do most of my corpmates. Today I had 6 lost connections in 2 hours costing me 45mil and a set of +3 implants. T/S is not affected by the drop so its not my connection to the net that is faulty. Very frustrating.

Been having the same problems since Saturday, its to do with your isp that is what I've narrowed it down to in my case.
My isp is currently moving customers from IPStream to DataStream this is resulting in drops in my connectivity in EVE especially at peak times 6pm-11pm.
My ISP is Tiscali...
Check your ISP forums for similar upgrades.

I had a similiar problem a while ago. I just downloaded NVidia's new driver and saw they had a firewall and tcp/ip stack too. I downloaded and installed them as well. I would randomly drop out of Eve, not sure if it's every 2 or 3 minutes of afk or not, but I did feel like I had to keep doing something or it would drop out. Anyhow once I removed the firewall and tcp/ip stack everything was fine. Hope it helps.

How would I go about finding out if that is my problem and removing said stack and firewall?

Same happened to me about a month ago. I had disconnects as soon as I went idle for a few minutes. This was especially crappy during mining ops, since I had to move my mouse all the time in order not to lose connection.
I reinstalled the EVE client and somehow it worked fine again till today and hopefully for some more time. The problem is, that if the client has to be reinstalled every couple of days/weeks just to fix some bugs, it¦s kinda annoying. And the reply you get from petitions: please clear your cache folder and/or reinstall the eve client shows, that it is most likely a client problem.

Edited by: Spoon Thumb on 17/03/2007 21:32:43 I've gone away and tried setting a ping looping pointed at my router and also my cable modem.
The results are that the cable modem seems to be at fault 9/10 times. It cuts out lots during "peak" hours (evenings and on weekends, and worst, evenings on the weekend)
I tried clearing cache and no effect
Also tried a different client (my sisi install) and smae problem, so can eliminate the Eve client
Next thing to try is a different network card. Interestingly my connection was fine when i plugged my internet ( / cable modem) straight into the back of my computer and it was fine. Latest thinking is therefore that the modem can't handle being plugged into a router (since I've tried multiple routers and the LAN is fine when the internet breaks)

Hi there, I too used to have a terrible ping rate when Tiscali was my isp. I had friends working at tiscali at the time and saw the huge numbers of complaints. They found that as I am on a landline, my line runs to the exchange at which time Tiscali took over my connection to thier system, then routed it through thier system to the exchange nearest the server I wished to play on. All of this switching back and forth caused lag. My ping was normaly around 45-55, however with Tiscali it was never below 120 and normaly 170 with highs of 370. I couldnt play online games with a ping that high so moved my isp back to BT(UK) took 4 months of complaining and never got a penny back in compo for the terrible service and shoddy customer support. As virgin may have to deal with BT for many UK customers with no cable connection, you may find that BT have bottlenecks slowing down data transfer or switching systems as was found with Tiscali. If you have a cable connection then the answer lies somewhere else Im afraid.
