How effective are ECM Burst modules? Where they nefed/changed at all with the Kali patch like other ECM jammers?
IĈm looking for a new solo Domi PvP setup that doesnĈt use Sensor Damps. I know they reduce locking range and increase locking time, which helps when they target drones, but I still feel like IĈm wasting 2 mid slots in most PvP 1v1 situations. Most people will target all drones at the beginning of battle and the only way for me to break their lock, is to redeploy them. Micromanaging this inadvertently reduces your DPS as you cycle your drones.
I was thinking of the following setup:
Hi: 4 Heavy Nos / 2 Medium Neuts Mids: Injector / Web / Scram / 2x ECM Burst II (could drop Web for MWD)? Lows: 2x LAR II / 2x EANM II / DC II / free slot (1600 Plate, Expl Membrane, CPR..)? Drones: Yes
Ideas?

They were not nerfed, but only because they were already pretty useless.
ECM burst only breaks locks, it does NOT give a 20 sec jam.

Well, the lack of 20sec timer does suck and I didn't realize that. However, if you're facing a battleship that already takes a while to lock, will it still not be useful?

Ecm burst is good for two things...
1: as an escape tactic 2: in combination with damps
You mentioned you don't want to use damps, but I use the damp/ecm burst combo on a few ships and it works nicely.

A bit, but against a BS you will only suceed in about 50% of all cases. They are only really useful if combined with damperners.

Ok, what about this for the mids
Injector / Web / Scram / 2 Sensor Damp II / Burst II
This will force them into NOS/Web/ECM range and you won't need a MWD to close distance. If you break their lock, even 50% of the time, it should give you the DPS edge in battle.

ECM bursts are OK, but only if you plan to solo in 0.0. Don't forget, clipping a stargate will attract sentry fire. And you'll also drop the locks of your gangmates.
But in general, damps and bursts _can_ work nicely. *shrug* frankly though, I still don't think they're any good. Even with the scorps bonuses (which does apply to 'em, whilst oddly, the blackbird/recons bonus doesn't)

That'll work. Just be careful where you use em. Read: hisec wars with a possibility of hitting a nearby neutral.
