I was thinking what it would be like to play Eve in a fresh sandbox and its rather appealing. Eve was already 4 years old when i started playing, so i never got to experience the untouched galaxy? of New Eden. So i was thinking it would be nice to have a new live server. I think it would also help keep trial members because many people dont want to start a game that is over a decade old with characters that are over a decade old and be a new player. It feels like they are never going to catch up.
So....
* You can pick which server you want to start on at the beginning of an account. You can also change what server is your primary server as long as you have an active account on both servers. Your primary server will be the default one for your account,so if you choose not to play on both for a while you can choose which you want to play on as your main server while the secondary server is active.
* To play on both servers is an additional $5 a month or you can use a plex to get 3 months of play time on the second server.
* The new server would be empty just like it was when TQ first came online.
* The new server would run the same version of Eve as TQ. I know some would like the original version, but maintaining two live versions of Eve would be a lot more work.
*NO Plexes would be allowed on the market for the first 2 years. No Skill injectors for the first 5 years.
* NPC buy orders for minerals only.
*Tech 1 of the following would be seeded: Racial Frigates, Frigate size mods, light and medium drones, frigate size ammo.
*30 days after live t1 ammo would no longer be seeded. 60 days after live t1 drones and modules would no longer be seeded. 90 days after live t1 frigates would no longer be seeded. 120 days after live NPCs would no longer buy minerals.
Benefits:
*Everyone starts on a level playing field. New players dont feel like they will never "catch up" *A fresh untouched new eden. * Fresh markets. *No rich players to compete with. Everyone is poor. * No blobs, blue donuts, or mega coalitions. * No capitals or supers for quite some time( this is literally my favorite) * No sov. Now is your chance to stake your claim.
Optional Changes:
* Redo the map so it seems like a new region of space. Different regions with different names. *I would shrink high sec to at least 50% of its current size( preferably a quarter) and keep low sec the same size. *Add what i took from high sec to null. * Remove 3/4 of the NPC sov systems in null and replace them with player sov null.

You really dont understand eve politics do you? Alliance A can field x amount of caps. Alliance B can field twice as many caps. Alliance A forms a coalition with Alliance C to balance the power. Alliance B forms a coalition with Alliance D so they now have more caps than A/C. A/C adds alliance E to their coalition. so on and so forth.
On a fresh server, your not going to have that mess. Your not going to have alliances that have trillions of isk that can just throw ships at an alliance until they dissolve. Your not going to have dread bombs and alliances that can field more avatars than the opposing alliance can field pilots period.
It will take years to get to that state. Do you really think that most alliances like Goons, PL, NC, etc. are going to just start new? You think they are going to give up their supers, trillions of isk, and hundreds of millions of SP and the ability to just inject a character to max skills? Nope. The people that will migrate will be people looking for a fresh start, somewhere away from all the current eve political BS.

Actually it wouldnt kill the player base. Ive quite eve many times for many months just because i was sick of the political situation in null. I got sick of the blobbing and hand holding, so i would leave for several months let the political landscape change then try again.
I would of never unsubbed all those times if we had a second server. I would of just went and played on it for a couple of months while TQ sorted it out. See when i get sick of the BS on TQ i have an option to go play somewhere else and still give CCP money. I still go play somewhere else when i get sick of the BS on TQ. Its just not CCP that gets my money, its another dev.
Giving players a fresh server to start on from time to time especially after this one has been around so long actually helps not hurts the game. All those other companies dont do it because it cost them players, but because many players lack interest in starting a game in which they have to compete with players that have been playing a decade. And while tit for tat, they can compete in a single instance, they cannot compete overall.
Using me as an example again i pretty much dont do anything on TQ anymore but pew pew. I usually dont even log in till 5 min before an op. I have plenty of isk and a good SRP program. If we had another server i would likely spend time im not pew pewing there playing around providing content rather than doing something else/playing another game.

So your argument is literally 'this has never helped before and every other game to try it has lost subscribers, but in EvE it will be TOTALLY DIFFERENT U GUISE!!?
You think it'll take years to get to the point of dreadfleets, why is that?
What about battleship fleets? Will the guys who first perfect the skill training plans to put as many people as possible in ravens as fast as possible not simply be the new supercap blob? Will a thousand barely trained guys in drakes owning all f nullsec be any different to a thousand supers if everyone else is poor as dirt and scraping by in rifters?
Do you not think that the most organised groups would have carrier fleets up and running inside of six months, with no-one capable of opposing them?
Also, why no plexes? The rest of your ranting is just totally uninformed delusions about the state of nullsec and a complete lack of comprehension of what an organised group could actually do on a fresh start server, or what happens when you split a limited playerbase, but that part is just weird. |

Hahaha yeah i totally know nothing about politics. And people. And the dynamics. Zero. Nothing. Oh boy you caught me. ****!
... lol
"Your not going to have alliances that have trillions of isk that can just throw ships at an alliance until they dissolve. Your not going to have dread bombs and alliances that can field more avatars than the opposing alliance can field pilots period."
And the trillions aren't needed, as the goons have proven a long time ago. When everyone is equal, the biggest group wins by default. And the groups will exist, because they are connected outside the game. Your cognitive limitations focussing your thoughts on "money" are hindering you from realizing that.
"Do you really think that most alliances like Goons, PL, NC, etc. are going to just start new?" Absolutely, especially the Goons. They thrive in such an environment.
"loser" If you had actually used your brain to comprehend it, instead of your hate ... ... you'd understand hnat calling everyone a loser isn't - and can not be - personal insult.
And the last point... again, it doesn't matter. Your hate is too obvious, btw ... ... and nothing prodictive will come out of your silent rage.
It does not matter if 10k people can field caps, titans or rookie frigages only ... ... because everyone else can o ly do the same things. Nothing changes at all!
If you had friends who actually stick with you, because of the group, then you'd understand that.
There is nothing more to add or "discuss". This idea was dead from the beginning anyway, because hate drives you and not objective thought.
Have a nice day anyway and hopefully you gain some life again.

I don't think you understand this game at all. The names would be different, but the exact same histories would play themselves out. The harder you try to run from what you perceive to be the ills of the current game, the more headstrong you run back into them; chasing ideals you are.
This game remains the most level playing field out there - knowledge, drive, and relationships are the actually powerful things in the game.
New Eden refreshes itself daily - resources are inexhaustible, it is up to you to make them dance.
An aspirant marketeer has plenty of untapped niches, even still!
What separates a rich player from a poor player is 99% perspiration, 1% inspiration.
Blobs, doughnuts, and mega coalitions would form quite quickly.
Sov is so hilariously malleable and attainable now that the old paradigms do not apply. Plenty of sov for someone who wants it. Now....you have to find someone that wants it - that much is still broken.

How's about we stop whining that Eve is an unfair game and how you weren't there in the beginning to roam half of New Eden without seeing a single damn person? All you want is a separate server that is almost entirely cosmetic changes and what game play changes you proposed take away content of the game.

Honestly, this idea that a server wipe will somehow magically put everyone on a level playing field is utter nonsense. Even if you wiped TQ, took away all my skills, ISK, equipment and everything, I would still have my knowledge of the game, my understanding of how to best make money, acquire skills in a precise order to maximize where I want to be, and my Agony bros to go kick ass with.
Literally, the only thing that would change is we'd be killing people in T1 frigs instead of T3 destroyers. And since Agony started with nothing but T1 frigs, we'd thrive a lot better than some of the late comers.
Initially there would be more variation in Null, but as the old alliances coalesced back together, the real differences would be next to nil. There would still be a centralized market hub - it might not be Jita, but it would exist. Wormholes would be even harder to get a foothold in because the wormhole corps would have better ideas about how to secure them from the start.
In the end, we'd end up with TQ 2.0, and it wouldn't even take as long to get there as it took the first time around.
Eve is like an addiction; you can't quit it until it quits you.

I should post this.
OP, you have good intentions. There is no doubt about that. You didn't create a troll-thread and actually spent time writing your posts in a readable manner.
An oversight in your reaso ing, though, which isn't wrong as is, is that the problem of "equality" is purel imaginary.
People who believe that they have no chance of competing don't really understand how EVE works. There are thousands of people at an given moment equal to thousands of others, due to the skilling system.
What they don't know is that this isn't like the other games where you eventually max out and are equal. You could put 100 different players with ewual skills into equal ships for a fight ... ... where everyone fights everyone else at least once ... (100*100=10.000 fights) ... and you'd see that the distribution of wins would be uneven ... ... because some people are better than others.
So the actual solution to this problem is making people aware that what matters is their brain ... ... knowledgs, wit, understanding of game mechanics ... ... and that someone who learns it all quickly ... ... can take out higher SP levels as long as he's smart about his doings.
Your solution would only work for a new game ... ... without CONCORD ... ... and people who actually dare and don't mind serious effort.
Just like the original playerbase was.
I hope that helped. And please don't stop posting ideas. You make mistakes and learn, just like the rest of us.

And in 2-3 years its make the new new server. As even the bitter vets on the new server are too salty and can never be caught up to.
Then 2-3 years after that....
Also fresh starts aren't the green grass it seems. Did this on a long break in Diablo 3 Seasonal play. Long story short in d3 seasonal play you make or convert an old char to run that season. level 1, no resources and cannot use anything you have on your regular non-seasonal section. Those fat loaded stash tabs and piles of gold...that seasonal char won't see that till season's over. first season was interesting...all new and clean.
By 3rd season optimized methods to be level 70in not time flat and paragon and greater rift pushes were in full effect. The new char smell got old fast. It became SSDD the moral to that story. Did the same stuff in different way (char class), but...still the same ends were met. And we all did this. Top players on each season...changes rankings a bit but....it was the same old people.
Eve I know doesn't do XP grinds. Its not just about the XP. I have year 1 eve playing friends who are just as deadly on thier low sp alts as the uber super duper SP main. You fly say frigates and cruisers for several years....you tend to get real good if you keep on doing that. Gear helps...so does actually knowing how to fly it well. |
