Is this going to be possible any more, surely this opens a huge benefit to larger corps / alliances who can simply use superior numbers to beat the littler ones into submission, without them even having to work with scanners and probes to pinpoint these, just using alts to pod probe POS's in a system.
Give the little guys with little ships something to play with, we see missions with rat gangs hiding out in hollowed out roids etc, for some of us thats all we want, a bug hole in which we can have a hangar and frigate / cruiser bay. Not some beastly sovereignty claiming tower o'doom.

If you are talking about taking over some outpost (more like a base in a roid, not a full outpost ofc) you can find through exploration, sure, why not? Would be kinda cool to be able to take over such a base with just a small ship hangar array and a bit of space (1 itty 5 worth of space).
Of course there needs a way to take such bases over _______________________________________________

I am thinking that the OP is taking about putting a POS up off grid.
I had heard a rumor that it was possible to put one up off the warp in grid, but had not tried it.

It's still not hidden though if we could find ship before probes what chance would a pos thats just across the gridline have. |

I don't see how this changes anything. It's not like people "find" your POSes by warping to random moons. People warp to planet, and then do a 360 degree scan for control towers, once they know the the towers are present, they narrow down the scan, use ALT key to highlight moons on the screen and get it down to 5 degree scan. From there, they know the exact composition of your tower... so how does being off-grid ever make it any more hidden? (Hidden to idiots that warp to random moons maybe)

Last time I tried to put up a tower off-warp-in grid I couldn't as it said something about having to anchor it at a moon. afaik the patch only places the tower in the center of the grid so that you could not place it at one specific edge as an attacking force only would be able to attack from one single direction.
after the patch attackers should be able to attack from any direction.
But this only applies if I understood it all.
Help me help you. |

No matther where you try to anchor a tow at a moon the game qutomatically moves the tower to the center of the grid. Some people were alarmed when they tried to anchor a POS and it myseriously jumps 60-100km away. ------------------------------- C.D's Formula for success ------------------------------- Credit Card = Game Time Card Gametime Card = ISK Therefore Credit Card = ISK.

My CT anchored fine. I was alarmed when my other structures started flying away at 600m/s when I anchored them. You try chasing a silo -- those bastards are quick!

There was a exploit where you could have half the pos in one grid, and half the pos in the other.
The attackers could attack one half of the pos, not realsing that the pos was being repaired on the other side. Moving a pos to the centre of the grid removes this exploit. --
