Lots of people use it with no reported problems.
I use it in offline mode, using XML files saved from my character page.
There's no way on earth my login and password get typed into anything other than this website or the Eve client.
... and to be honest I'd be happier if I could use a different login / pass combination for the website than for the game.
Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I don't want to be one of the guys coming here with tales of woe about my account being "hacked".

Download the source yourself, check it and compile it yourself. Easy.
If you don't trust a well used 3rd party application, why do you trust random people on a forum ? ___

Checking thousands and thousands of lines of code isnt my definition of easy, so dont roll your eyes there.
Trusting some random people with fitting tips or rumors about the war is an entirely different thing, than trusting someone with your login info of a character that you might have been playing and developing for years, not to mention put money into.
EveMon is great, no doubt about that, but no need to diss people for being cautious. After all, they might just be growing their userbase and planning to make the biggest heist of EVE history in some future patch.
Yes, EVE has taught me to be that paranoid.
Edit: Ah, 3rd party and forums. Isnt asking in the forums a way to know if a 3rd party program is well known.
