Anybody who does PI will eventually tell you that tearing down PI structures --especially extractor units-- only to rebuild them "a little to the left and down", and then to have to relink and set up routs becomes a major pain in the brain. I see no compelling reason why the power and CPU needs of the existing link couldn't be recalculated on the fly to account for distance.
In short - CCPlease allow us to move existing buildings. Heck - add a fee for doing so to mimic the "tear down & rebuild" costs...
And yes, I am aware there are tons of other things that could use fixing as well... and that this may be lowish on most people's priority lists. But I just thought I'd bring it up and see what kind of response it got. I'd be interested to know what everyone else thinks.. Anyone with me on this?

PI deposits deplete and respawn. You have a choice - chase them around the planet to optimize your yield or accept reduced yield for a couple of weeks until new deposits spawn near your installation.
If you really want to move the tear down is instant - simply decommission the command center and it takes about 10 minutes to setup a new installation - not a big deal.
Like most people I would like PI to be less click intensive but I don't want it to be "easy" - that would simply encourage more competition and push down prices! |

This would be nice yes, but i've found with the range of extractor control heads that i can usually still reach a part of the new spawn and just lose around 800-1500 raw material per cycle on a 12 hour setup like mine. Which winds up only being single digit millions lost vs the pain of setting up a new extractor/routes/ and paying for the new one.

Perhaps not so much move as save in a fitting type window so you can deploy the same setup repeatedly and share them. Either way.. hell yea.. |

+1 for this.

It is easy to re-link everything. It's also a pain in the backside. Having the ability to drag extractors just like their heads would not make it any easier or harder, it would simply remove pointless clicks setting things back up the way they were.
The time spent re-linking extractors is low in comparison to the time spent moving heads around. The net time savings for the player (and net increase to ease of use) would not be significant. It would just be a quality of life thing.
And if it drives down prices, it will also drive down the prices of finished goods; this means ships become more expendable and thus people become less risk averse (or at least, they do in my mind... reality often proves me wrong). |

A simple installation template would be fine for this. Create your favoured setup of extractor/storage/factories and save. New location/planet? Fine, drop the CC and select the appropriate template. |
