An unresearched BPO has a market value, so is relatively variable, but easy to figure out. How would you go about estimating the value of a researched BPO? An ME 1/TE 0 BPO ought to be worth more than an unresearched BPO, and also probably more than an ME 0/TE 1 BPO, which should itself be worth more than an unresearched BPO. A fully researched (ME 10/TE 20) BPO ought to be worth some fairly large multiple of the value of the unresearched one. I suppose you could just look at contracts to get an estimate, but those data will be spotty at best. Can we derive a formula which should give at least a rough value, as a starting point for setting your sell price?
Similar question for BPCs. Here the value/price would be dependent not only on the ME/TE levels, but also on the number of runs comparable to the max possible. Can we derive a formula? |

Not necessarily, no. First of all, price is still a function of supply and demand - there are plenty of oversupplied BPOs (especially ones that were purchased prior to a BPO price increase) that people are willing to let go at or near NPC prices, despite their research level.
Secondly, what you're actually selling is the slot-time. So, no, it can't be reduced to a simple multiple of the NPC. If two BPOs have the same research time requirements, but one costs 10x as much, you can't expect the same return on the NPC price.

It would be helpful if we could have an ingame market for BPOs and BPCs instead of relying on the contract system. I'm not sure how much of an impact it would be on the market but it would go a long way to normalizing prices and making it easier to both buy and sell blue prints. |

The research facility just tells you how much that will be when you start the job - is there a way to figure out what that number will be, or would I just have to record it when I get it? |
