Small Ancillary Armor Repairer.
It's so super efficient as compared with another tanking modules that can be replaced.
Its capacitor usage is very affordable, and momentary repairing amount is also adorable.
At least I can use all 8 nanite in most situation.
(Unless I got neuted by Tristan with 3 neutralizer or etc)
That gives EHP equals 400mm Armor Plates, with no speed penalty.
Auxiliary Nano Pump rigs have no speed penalty too in contrast with Trimark or Resist Rigs.
And its CPU-+Powergrid usage is also very small. only 5 / 5.
So... because of its super, unequaled efficiency, more and more frigates start to use it,
But it has no BPO, no LP store exchange...
So it costs over 5M isk now and its cost is getting higher.
What's CCP's stance? Wanna say this module is designed to be super efficient, and rare like Faction or Deadspace modules?
If that's not, it's time to make some change. |

SAARs are produced of BPCs, dropping from data sites. They used to cost 200-500k for years and are the standard for most armor frigs. Then CCP removed the BPCs from relics, and as nobody bothers to run data sites, the price went through the roof.

Someone, a very astute trader, has made a lot of isk on this module. The drop rates come from rats alone and the drop rate is very small as it is a frigate module. It has a very small footprint in PVE farmability and a very LARGE footprint in PvP usability. Unlike the ancillary shield booster which drops more, is farmed more and is available to be a medium variant on most ships to be useful it makes it a cruiser sized PVE farm. This means noone farms it and makes it available to be manipulated on the market.
It is the most effective pvp module and with the advent of the alpha clones is the supreme frigate sized module for armor repping that is DEMANDED in pvp. Without one one sucks in frigate pvp entirely.
The only thing to reduce the price of said module is make larger bpc drops available per drop or have a higher drop rate. That is unless CCP wants to make this another high priced frigate pvp module and keep it there. But whoever it is that is trading in them has made large isk in the last months as the spike was a long time ago.
Increasing drop rates for the bpcs or increasing run amounts to 5 or 10 per bpcs will reduce the price back to what it should be. But... more people farming them would also help. So... find where they are dropped and farm them for the price.
Have you heard anything I've said?
You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?
That's right.
Had to end sometime.

It's pretty weird that small ones cost about 50 times as much as large...

Yes I have, and having a 60 second reload is relevant to the discussion of how "super efficient" it is. You completely ignored that and I felt it was relevant to point out. I will concede that it is rare this factor comes into play in most situations you put yourself in but it is a stat that should not be completely ignored if you are trying to be the least bit objective when presenting your argument.
As to your "problem" of availability, the answer seems simple, if you think they are too expensive, run data sites and get your own BPCs. Alternatively starting putting up buy contracts for the BPCs and hope there are idiots that don't realize their value. This is not something that CCP needs to fix.

You can't buy-contract BPCs. You just end up with a contract asking for a BPO. It would be nice if they would add a way to define the parameters and make it possible, though.

So data sites are a gold mine no one is using? Sounds like we've solved the problem.
Don't kid yourselves. Even the dirtiest pirates from the birth of EVE have been carebears. They use alts to bring them goods at cheap prices and safely, rather than live with consequences of their in game actions on their main, from concord to prices

What seems to be the Problem? It could easily cost 10 Mio. and still would be justified. It is a good module but few pilots know how to operate it correctly.

I don't mind the cost, particularly, but I do think they are just a little too good. They seem so much better than the alternatives that armor tanking ships are almost forced to use them for (non-fleet) pvp.
