I've been working on a spreadsheet for the last month or so, which I've now decided to make public. In short, it should allow you to do the following:
- work out the DPS of your drones, based on your skills and relevant ship bonuses - work out the DPS of your fighters, based on your skills and relevant ship bonuses - see how resistance affects your DPS - work out your drone range based on skills, ship bonuses and modules - calculate your probability of jamming a target with ECM drones given the target sensor strength - work out the speed and optimal range of drones (where applicable) based on your skills
I know there are web pages that offer similar functions, but I also know the value of having your own spreadsheet with such information.
There are certain features that I would like to implement, but that I don't currently have a nice way of doing so, so I'm releasing this as it is and I may update it at a later point in time.
You can download the Drone Calculator from here.
Hope you find it useful.

Originally by: KaptnSparrow can you put somewhere the ammount of drones you have? Cause some ships can't fit 5 drones. So it would be nice if its better to have 5 x medium drones or 4 x heavy drones
Sure, I'll try to implement a nice way of doing that. I left it out initially because the 'simple' way of doing it would just show you the drone damage for 5 of the same drones. I think I can modify it to show how a mix of drones works too, so I'll try to add that.
Originally by: Raekone Question though, I enter carrier (thanatos) 4 and fighters 4, and I get about 108 dps from fighters... is that from each fighter? Because that would mean one carrier can do literally thousands of dps.
Yes that sounds right. You get 80% more damage from the Fighters skill and 20% more damage from the ship skill.
Originally by: Robbie Boozecruise any chance you could put a box in for number of drone navigation computer fitted. i set up my domi for killing inties by fitting 5 drone links drone links to get my range up to 160km and fitting all my mids with drone navigation computer's to get the speed up
Let me look into this. I need to find out whether there is stacking involved with the computers - if there is, it adds a different set of problems, but I'll see what I can find out.

Ok, I played around with the Drone Navigation Computers and despite the description on the module, the speed increase it gives is actually a percentage value (25% speed increase). However, they're also subject to stacking, which is an issue for me in more than one respect at the moment as regards the spreadsheet. Insofar as figures go, you'll find:
The 1st DNC gives a 25% speed boost. The 2nd DNC gives a 21.728% speed boost. The 3rd DNC gives a 14.265% speed boost. The 4th DNC gives a 7.074% speed boost. The 5th DNC gives a 2.65% speed boost.
Those are worked out using Akita T's stacking formula (since the devs won't make the official one available).
In terms of working out how that affects your drone speed, you would use:
drone speed x 1.25 x 1.21728 x 1.14265 x 1.07074 x 1.0265
I'll keep tinkering with the spreadsheet and see if I come up with a way of implementing such things that makes me happy. In the meantime, the above should help you to work it out the old fashioned way.

Thanks for all the comments. I'll be uploading the version that works out total DPS (for a mixture of drones or fighters) later today.
Originally by: Robbie Boozecruise ok with 3x drone speed mods warrior ll get up to 11 km/sec which is fast enough for me
Yeah, the extra two computers only just push them above 12 km/sec so you could probably use something else in those slots.

I think you need to set the 10% damage/level value to 0: a max skill Ogre II only reaches 95.04 DPS if it is used on a ship that gives 10% drone damage per level and you have the skill to pilot the ship at level 5 (e.g. Gallente BS 5 and you're piloting a Dominix).
Without ship skills, the Ogre II does 63.36 DPS. Fighters do 100 DPS with max skills, before taking ship bonuses into account.

But the part of what i wrote is right. The sheet is good Job and tnx that u shared with us
Thank you, I'm genuinely pleased that this has turned out to be useful for people.
I've uploaded the newest version now, which allows you to add the mixture of drones/fighters that you're using and to see the total DPS that results. I'll update the initial post to reflect that change.

Originally by: Simon Jax Nicely done. One comment though. T2 Heavy Drones require Heavy Drone Operation V in order to fly them. Your stats show the DPS for T2 Heavies with <racial> Drone Spec IV regardless of Heavy Drone Operation V.
The Heavy Drone Operation requirement can be easily added to your existing formula using the "+" or command in your IF formula. i.e. =if((B10<4)+($F$6<5),0, ...)
Yeah, fair point. I'll add that into the next release.
And yes, it should (hopefully!) work in Open Office if you don't have Excel.

Just to confirm that the next release will take into account pre-requisite skills for T2 drones of all sizes. I've also implemented a way to see how Drone Navigation Computers affect your drone MWD speed, as requested by Robbie Boozecruise. Hopefully I'll upload it within the next 24 hours.

Latest version has now been uploaded.
As an aside, the top speed your drones are capable of is their MWD speed - the speed at which they move when they go to attack or (supposedly) return. Their orbit speed is different.

You're welcome.
The latest version has now been uploaded. It includes drop down boxes so you can select the skill level rather than having to type it in each time (though you can still type it if you prefer), as well as the tracking values for combat drones. I've also added a box so you can see how Omnidirectional Tracking Links will affect your drones' optimal and tracking values.

The latest version has now been uploaded. This allows you to select up to 5 sensor dampening drones and shows how they will affect a target's range and scan resolution, taking into account the stacking penalty.
Took me a little while to get the interface laid out and working right, but it should all be in order.

Thank you again for all your comments.
I have some other additions I want to make to the spreadsheet - assuming time and circumstance allow for those - and I'll update this thread as appropriate when those happen.

Kaylee Kaitlen, I've gone over my figures and you're correct, my spreadsheet was wrong for both T2 light and medium drones (I put in the damage modifier for the T1 variant rather than T2). As such the damage values displayed for T2 light/medium drones were 20% lower than they should have been.
I've corrected it and uploaded the spreadsheet with the right figures now. You should be able to see the real difference between your T1 and T2 Hammerheads.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to wipe some egg off my face...

Originally by: Keitaro Baka :) It looks good now, I would like to suggest you add a version number to the sheet now, so people know they need to update to the latest version.
I think, for my own ease, I'll just edit the title to show when the spreadsheet was last updated. I'll also mention somewhere in the original post that it's theoretical DPS lest I get lynched by angry drone users with pitchforks.
Originally by: Kaylee Kaitlen No worries -- I've done ss's for games and things before and until you release it to the masses, you never really get a decent test. I'm just glad I could help and thanks for providing such a useful tool!
Cheers and thanks for the feedback.

Originally by: Lord Timelord Spreadsheet needs to be updated with the current patches Nyx nerf. The Nyx's Fighter damage bonus was reduced from 10% per level to 5% per level.
Yeah, it's on my 'to do' list, should be a simple enough change. Until then, people can use the input field for the Thanatos as that gets the same bonus as the nerfed Nyx.

Originally by: Kazuo Ishiguro Currently, the spreadsheet is making some rather optimistic predictions - it assumes that every shot from every drone will hit. Even under ideal circumstances, drones sometimes have less than a 100% chance to hit, due to their own orbit speed. Also, sentry drones tend to be particularly feeble against small or fast-moving targets due to their high sig res and poor tracking.
I've said in the initial post that "DPS values are theoretical - in actual combat situations they will obviously vary depending on factors such as speed and tracking." I think that covers it, for the most part. Trying to accommodate a number of different variables is just going to complicate things.

Minor addition this time around - the Thanatos and Nyx bonus have been merged into one field now as they are both the same.
Next release should have web drone effects in it.

This has now been added.
As I'm leaving the game soon, this is the last version of the spreadsheet that I'm releasing and it incorporates all the features I intended for it to have.
If anyone else would like to adapt and update the spreadsheet in future and make it available for public use, they are free to do so. All I would ask is that you reference the original source and don't try to pass it off as all your own work.
