I know this is totally up to me but want to ask a few questions before going to the hassle of relocating. I dunno why I haven't been arsed to try COSMOS yet but better late than never. So:
1) I'll be doing Caldari COSMOS. Are these camped to hell and back? I do not know how COSMOS work yet or what mission objectives they give you but it'd stink to have to fight off some farmer Everwait style. If they send you to instanced mission spots I guess that is not an issue.
2) How many missions require going into/through low sec? Being COSMOS and especially being Caldari space I have very little interest in risking my missioning ship. Call me a carebear all you like...still not going to do it.
3) My main motivation for this is to raise my faction with Caldari. However, I have seen it suggested that you get better rewards from COSMOS the higher your faction standing already is. Any truth to that and if so what's the scoop?
4) Do the harder COSMOS require groups to complete? I can solo any L4 normal mission just fine but don't want to find that COSMOS are significantly more difficult the hard way (i.e. flying back in a pod).
5) Is there any progression with COSMOS such as start with Agent A and then they lead you to others or just pick one and have at it and try different agents as you please?

I'll answer your questions based of my experiences in Amarr Cosmos recently.
1)I can only say Amarr Cosmos space was pretty much dead when I did it ~3 weeks ago.
2)Some haulers might take you into low sec, but with WtZ/WCS it's a non-issue.
3)I highly recommend waiting till your 4.0. Going in at a higher faction will allow immediate access to the higher level agents. The majority of them are L3/Q0 requiring 4.0 standing to various corps (or 4.0 with Caldari State to make it easier.)
4)The complex is a pain solo, its locked to BC or lower and the re-spawn on the rats is pretty insane. A solid drake pilot shouldn't have a problem I'd wager. We did it with a Ferox tanking/Caracal DPS. Stock up with lots of ammo before going in. The rest are standard deadspace type missions.
5)There isn't a real progression of agents per se, I think 1 or 2 required completing a lower agent first. Mostly its pick and choose.
Check out the sticky and various fan sites. I found a mostly complete list of Amarr missions, and I'm sure a Caldari version exists somewhere. Also join the in-game channel, usually a few people willing to answer questions.

I was talking to a friend last night who happened to be doing Caldari COSMOS missions and asked about the camping issue. His answer was something along the lines of, "OMG....there are people freaking everywhere!" Another guy in the channel with us laughed and agreed saying it was nuts.
These COSMOS things need to be locked down to just the people doing the actual missions and not open for people to farm. Move skillbook drops (or whatever) to Exploration. I thought developers realized long ago with what happened in Everquest that static spawns for good loot was a sure road to a lousy game experience. Guess not...

Maybe. OTOH I've seen people in the Gallente Cosmos make impromptu queues or teams and cooperate in some way to make things work. Even the bad guys sometimes create some socializing effects, as people will warn each other about them.
It probably causes more irritation than pleasure overall, but it's not completely negative. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

When I was needing something from a complex in the Minmatar COSMOS, it was only by getting an ad hoc team together (all needing stuff from a particular room in the plex) that we were able to overcome the warp in DPS and keep the spawns at bay long enough to scoop up the stuff we needed. Was impressive how much team work was required
