Im curios im looking into running lvl4s but im wondering wether it is better to keep spectialising in armor tanking/amarr ships or to train Caldari ships EG. the Raven?

a lot easier in a Raven - skill wise. Most fun in Minmatar. Doable in all races ships. Tanking is not an issue (good T2 setup or even faction one works on every ship). Raven has the advantage of different damage types it can do by changin missiles.
If u're lookin for challenge go Ammar. If u're lookin for ISK go Caldari

If you are already in to Amarr ships and have little in the way of missile skills stick with Amarr. I fly Amarr ships solo against Gurista (probably second worst choice for an Amarr ship to be up against) in L4 missions all the time and do fine.
That said the Raven is hands down the best PvE ship in the game as missiles confer a distinct advantage. If you want to mission as fast as possible then the Raven is your ship without a doubt.

In pure efficiency and ease of use a missile boat works best, no question. Personally I find missions more fun and involving in a turret boat cause you have to work a bit more to be able to hit stuff reliably. If you just started using large turrets it can be very frustrating though when it seems you can only hit the battleships.

They are fast, they do have at least some limited options with damage types, their guns use no cap, the phoon can use torps (even though they kinda suck without the speed bonus), they can shield or armortank (like, armortank against blood/sansha, shieldtank against Angels). And some of their ships are simply great (like Vagabond, Sleipnir, Machariel). While my CNR and Abaddon used to run the missions faster, the Machariel always had the highest fun factor for me, and my alts Sleip is getting there too. --------- There is no 'n' in turret There is no 'r' in faction There is no 'a' in Kestrel There is no 'e' in Caldari

i had always hoped minmatar was atleast the 2nd best choice for missions becaus they have atleast 3/4 launcher spots aswell. tho my views are very limited, i havent had alot of troubles yet flying minmatar in mission. but im only up to lvl 3 atm

For ease go for Caldari. I started off with Amarr and used their ships for two years. Last year I decided to go for the Raven and discovered how much easier it was.
It doesn't have the tanking ability of an Apoc (can't run the tank 23/7 like I could with the Apoc) but you don't have to worry about changing crystals every five seconds and you can put out any damage type you want. I'm currently training for a Nighthawk :) -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

It'll take about 6 months of training in missiles, engineering and ships before you're "really good" at using a raven in missions.
If you already have several million invested in amarr stuff, then you may as well spend those 6 months getting all those skills up to lvl 4 or 5, and using amarr agents against Blood Raiders and Sansha (EM and Thermal).

Very true. I'm a cautious fella and I started working toward a T2 fitted, cruise missile spewing, Raven in Jan '06. I finally got it in July.
Bloody lovely machine though :D

Yah. When I started for my Raven I already those skills for the Apoc and was happily flying a T2 fitted killing machine.
In a month's time I will be flying a T2 fitted Nighthawk and it'll be very interesting to see how it compares against my mate's Absolution. I think it'll turn him green -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

I always knew the amarr ships were only gold plated, with copper underneath :)

i honestly run both amarr and caladari. its more skill intensive but I get the satisfaction of basically flying every ship in game one i train for the ships. Been playing a little over a year now and can T2 shield/armor tank great, got T2 lasers and cruise. Best part you run missions for 1 you get a side standing increase with the other. Once you go from amarr to caladari go run a few cosmos missions, that will get you up there. I did amarr and amarr cosmos missions, when i switched over to caladari agent i could use all agents lvl 4 qty 18 command on down, only 6-7 agents in all of caladari empire i couldn;t use in beginning. but the quickest route to awesomeness is pick one race ship and max it out then switch over to another.
