So, you have a target frigate using MWD and going 2-3 km/s. You are using light missiles. Which is better to use, Fury or precision for max damage?
I don't have much experience speed tanking. Just how much is mitigated by going that fast? |

If you are certain your missiles can travel the distance - precision, if not - faction, if scramed (not ABing around) and webed or painted - fury. |

I'm not sure if this applies. But when I'm doing missions in my Raven. I find that my precision do about ~800 more damage per salvo. Even against battleships. |

Would painting even make a difference? They already have a huge signature radius due to MWD. If your signature is already much bigger than the explosion radius does being even bigger help? I would think that the only stat that matters at that point is target speed and explosion velocity. |

Found a good site for working this all out: http://sisterofeve.ru/gmdc/
-And yes, apparently being even bigger does make a difference

And the conclusion is that, when your signature has bloomed to around 350, Fury light missiles are best until about 1900m/s, and precision become best at around 3800m/s.
For AB fit and 45 signature, Fury are best until 250m/s and precision become best at 480m/s
Caldari Navy missiles are best between the two speed, and second best otherwise. |

You can also look such things up in pyfa graphs. Also frig speed around 200 m/s means it's webbed , speed around 500 m/s just scramed. (for normal not dual prop fits)

Make a fit for your ship and one for the enemy ship in one of the fitting tools. Check out your missiles' explosion radius and your target's signature radius. Your damage will be applied after multiplied by Sig Rad/Ex Rad. Or will be applied full if this ratio is above 1. Check what percent you lose. Now check what percent dmg you lose with shifting to precision. Choose whichever missile you lose less damage. |
