Edited by: Mastin Dragonfly on 28/03/2007 17:48:27 Does the division of the storyline agent also affect the kind of storyline mission given out? As in higher chance for combat storyline when the agent is from Command/Security/Surveillance etc?

In my experience the division of storyline agents has no effect at all on the type of mission. --------- There is no 'n' in turret There is no 'r' in faction There is no 'a' in Kestrel There is no 'e' in Caldari

It would appear to me that if you run courier missions there is a much higher chance that you will get either a storyline courier mission or a need Kernite mission. And the opposite seems true. If all you do is kill missions you will almost never get a courier mission but sometimes you do get the Kernite storyline mission.

You're all wrong and the OP had a good question :P I'm not sure it how it depends on the division of the agent, but I can say for sure it does depend on the agent itself, for sure.
I've been doing "kill" missions almost exclusively in my entire career, and I can tell you that I've had a LOT of non-combat missions. I've even had a streak of about 6 "materials for war" given by a storyline agent while I was working up my Lai Dal standing with a L2 then a L3 kill agent (no I don't recall which storyline agent). Back to L4 running for the navy, this time in lagcentral Aramachi (and surroundings), all storylines so far were kill missions.
WHERE you do your missions determines what storyline agent is picked (ususally the nearest compatible... but not always). And the agent itself (corp/division combo, no idea) determines type of mission. _ MySkills | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

I've noticed that when running for a new Storyline agent, I almost always start with the "Materials for War Preparation" missions, sometimes a few in a row, then after that they generally are all kill missions. I haven't noticed the trend change depending on the Storyline agent's division so far.
Just my observations, but a good question.

The last two storyline agents I've used a lot were both in kill divisions and both gave a mix of kill and courier. I haven't kept any finer track of it than that though. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Have some other tid bits to add to this. This man seems to be on the right track. I just returned to missions after a 1.5 year long stint in 0.0 and alot has changed.
But the "where" seems to be a big dertmining factor of what storyline agent you get. I have two different chars working of airkio one a lvl 2 mission runner and the other a lvl 4 mission runner (both courrier) I have gotten about 5-6 storylines from the lvl 2. 2 of them have been the sanasha 4 mission one where you have to find out about the sansha invasion force, and the other 4-5 have been materials of war. The other char got the same agent for storylines (lvl 4 storylines, so the agent can give multiple levels of storylines) but both of them were combat (the kidnapping one involving the Eom rats) He is listed as a legal agent. My guess would be if I coudl find a storyline courrier type agent somewhere else and started using agents in the area running lvl 4 courriers that he would give me lvl 4 preparations for war. But at this point its hard to tell. I am too busy enjoying the huge faction bonus from doing that missions to care lol.

Edited by: Mastin Dragonfly on 29/03/2007 21:56:19 Spend a bit of time with an agent locator program to see if I could find a good combat agent near a good storyline agent also of a combat divison. It's too much of a headache, none of the high quality lvl 4 amarr agents in 0.5/0.6 were near a combat storyline agent. I work for a security agent and the storyline agent I get send to is administration. Administration being about 50/50 on combat/courier and that's about what I get in missions offered. It's not that I mind doing the courier missions, but my main aim atm is to get my Amarr faction standing up to where I can get the apoc BPC offer from COSMOS. Combat missions give a much bigger boost than courier, and it kindda sucks to be dependant on a randomizer for how fast I can get it up. Starting to feel like a waste doing 16 missions just to get a courier storyline... Oh well, last one was Shipyard Theft at least.

That lvl 4 storyline mission where you have to deliver 40k of goods gives a high standing increase though. I got it several times in low-sec (of course).

The way it works actually is that your agent (the one you run the last of the 16 missions for) "activates" the closest Storyline agent of the same faction that is nearby. Depending on the type of that agent, you get a corresponsind type of missions with the appropriate likelihood for the type of agent.
There :)
