I may get much ruff from this, but they way I see it... those that form alliances want to be part of a bigger picture in Eve. Thus, I feel the devs need to look at the ever growing database of alliances and the impact it has.
Simple... why not set a minimum of 100 members to form an alliance? That would rid us of a lot of these unknown and obscure alliances that are just made for fun and serve no purpose... maybe almost half of the existing alliances. An alliance is BIG.... and should be big. I think the more we have the less important they feel.
I'd even go as far as capping off all the total alliances in Eve. Set a max and promote people to look into the exisiting alliances to join. I'd rather see a growing number of established alliances than a growing mass of lame ones.
I guess in Eve your dream can be anything, and I'd hate to take that away, but if you wish to rule an Empire... please atleast make it mandatory to have 100 people. The pre-reqs to form an alliance need to be greater.

One of the reasons for the small alliances is so that people can rant out there POS labs so that the corp wanting the research does not have to risk handing over the BPO to someine that can just run off with it. All the POS owner needs to do is create an alliance, allow alt/main research corps to join and grant alliance access to the POS labs.
This is a work around the problem with the game machanics that CCP needs to resolve.
That maybe a solution is to provide a stepping stone between corps and alliances, the magacorp. This could be cheaper that an alliance and still allow some of the benifits like POS access.

Why is what you say right? In my defense... an alliance IS some BIG STUFF. The game loses its impact when you take something that is considered to be a large scale EMPIRE and dumb it down to a few peeps playing around. Same goes for wars... these are supposed to be last resort tactics and have expensive impacts on both sides, but wars are just a new grief tactic and its dumbed down to being pretyt pathetic. If you want an alliance, work at it, recruit your members and corps, dont just have one cuz you can.
I'll finish by paraphasing your statement... just because you think an alliance can be small doesn't make it right.

What the hell? An alliance is exactly that, an alliance. If two corps want to make a formal alliance, then why should you care? ----- My sparkly tinfoil hat is extremely distracting, and makes my eyes bleed. -Conuion Meow ([email protected]) Join channel 'Turby' or die! I dont care what teeny corps do, but I care that an alliance doesn't have the impact and prestigue it should have. Game has lost its luster to this and to wars. The impact should be great, it should be dramatic and fun... not just a routine you can run through. In that aspect, I CARE.

Show me anywhere it says Alliance = Big.
As the guy says, if even only 2 people want to form an alliance they can, (in EVE or RL). Alliance only means people getting together for a common goal, some people's goals are small scale, so why should they have 100+ when 10 would be enough?
All I see here is your own personal opinion on the subject that you think should be set in stone, and it's never going to be the case. ----------------------------------------- Delta Troop is recruiting, Join channel D4CAV.

well the reason that we became a copr to an alliance was simply becasue we couldnt have all the hstiles we needed, there was a lot of hostiles that showed as nuetrals. becasue corps can only set other coprs to hostile, wand we have quite a list of enemies :-) we had to become an allaince so we could set an entire allaince to hostile, not each individual corp. simply that, sometimes we would get shot by nuetrals or we wouldnt shoot hostiles casue they showed as nuetrals.

This would improve the game how exactly?? Maybe just so you dont have to scroll down the list so far?
