Ok so I feel like I've been doing level 1's forever. I am in Caldari space because 1) My corp is there and 2) They want me to increase my Caldari standing. However it seems like however many missions I do, 1) my Caldari standing stays at 0.09 and 2) Level 2 missions are never available to me. I have been in to look at all agents and there isn't a single level 2 available. I have tried changing agents and no difference. So my questions areā
To improve Caldari standing I assume the race of the agent needs to be Caldari? Or does any agent in Caldari space improve Caldari standing?
Should I stick with the same agent or is it ok to change? The one I am at now has a standing of something like +4 which was higher than most others around so I changed to him. Does it matter whether you're doing security or surveillance or whatever missions? They are all "go shoot some ships" anyway.
How many lvl 1's do you usually have to do before 2's open up?
What would you recommend I do to open up level 2 missions ASAP? I understand these things can take time but when you're going back doing exactly the same missions you've already done (and wow the guy I killed before is now magically alive again and needs re-killing!) it gets pretty repetitive. I don't really mind repetitive but the lvl 1 missions are so easy with paultry rewards.
Any help anyone could give me would be much appreciated!

Go to Sobaseki and do the lvl 1 agents there, the will give you the storyline missions you need to increase your Caldari State standings. That which does not kill us makes us stronger. The Universe is ruled by three basic principles- Matter, Energy and Enlightened Self-Interest! |

Train the Social and Connections skills. Keep an eye on your standing from the corporation you're getting missions from.
30 missions is probably a bare minimum from 0 standing. However, the graduation cert plus Connections should be enough to get you to the lowest quality level 2 agents.
Have you had a storyline mission yet (marked as such in yellow on your journal)? They happen every 16 missions and improve your faction standing.

This is why missions really suck. You should just take up PVP. =) With that said, graduation certs come from the final graduation mission of the tutorial. If you didn't do the tutorial, go do the tutorial.
No, if you didn't do the tutorial, convo me in game, and I'll "help you out". Bring a badger with lots of megacyte in it.

If you've only done one storyline then you obviously havn't done too many level 1 missions. You get one every 16 completed missions, meaning you've not even done 32 missions.
If you turn missions down after accepting them you lose a lot of standing. If you turn down storylines you lose a hell of a lot more standing. But honestly your standing should go up fairly quickly early on as you do level 1's. It takes a bit of mission running... definitely more than you've done so far it seems (31 or less missions is nothing). Expect to run hundreds of missions to get to level 3's for example and then tons more to get to level 4's.
Perhaps the problem is you're running them poorly which makes them take forever. Level 1's should be very quick and easy.

Edited by: Pantshandshake on 02/04/2007 20:40:58 Another thing to point out is that Caldari (Empire) standing, agent standing, and corp standing are all completely different.
Your agent standing is just the standing with that particular agent. The corp standing (for example, with the Caldari Navy) is what determines when you can use higher level agents. The Empire faction standing, in your case Caldari, will increase as you do missions for the Caldari, especially storylines as everyone has already said. Its important to note, however, that many storyline missions have you fighting other player factions, Amarr/Minmatar/Gallente, and your standing with those empires will drop.
