His point was that the "plan" was written after the occurance and he implied it is unlikely that how things turned out beared any resemblance to how things were planned. I would tend to agree.

Ya know, If I was in BOB, I'd leave. Because regardless of what they have or do accomplish, everything will be tainted by the stench of cheating.
In this case....well....the tidbit of information that the system had a 700-man limit was worth more than any Tech II BPO. Did BOB know in advance? No idea. But that suspicion will certainly be in the back of my mind. Especially so as these 'Undocumented Features' seem to continually work in BOB's favor.
Now, as presented the plan was pretty good from BOB's side: Defend a POS and try to cripple the enemy's Capital Fleet. Use misinformation to make it so that they were shooting a semi-worthless target. But the Coalition had a plan too: Send in support when the POS blew to let the Capitals leave. Too bad that BOB was the only one who's plan was workable - oh, wait - the Coalition plan was workable, right up to the 700-man limit.
That kind of 'coincidence' leaves people with a very bad taste in their mouth.
I play Eve to try to build an Empire, and I used to look up to BOB as the model of how to do it right. I hoped for an invite to join them. Now, I'd have to turn it down if I got one - because I don't think that people would respect any of the work I did. The more brilliant I was, the more I'd be accused of cheating.
So did BOB attract the best players and therefore deserve to be on top of Eve? Sure. Will the Eve community ever give them the respect such an accomplishment deserves?
Never.
Because we just can't believe we play on a level playing field with them.

I agree, this is simply outrageous.
I wish to further express my distinct conviction that this state of affairs is immensely detrimental to our entire lifestyle; indeed, the very pillars of our civilization are directly threatened by this unforeseen turn of events. It remains our solemn duty to do our utmost to combat this menacing beast which abhors freedom, justice and righteousness in all forms, and seek only to devour our children, homeland and very way of life.
I hereby call upon all moral citizens to stand up to this vile monster of utter depravity! These so called 'coders', cursed be their name, have truly sinned greatly in the eye of the beholder and must be redeemed in the fiery pits of hell after meeting their creator.
Or hang on.
Wtf is this?

Only one way to find out. Next time theres a Alliance fleet of 200+ headed to any Coalition system, Petition a GM to cap the system with the excuse "We dont want the node to crash". If they cap it, then all's fair, if they dont, then BOB realy does have a GM in their back pocket, and that means you lose.....everytime

Edited by: dirtystockbird on 02/04/2007 22:01:16 OR could it be (tinfoil hat time)....
That BOB learned that JUMP IN's have more priority then LOGINS (as was evident in the LV titan fiasco). Therefore rather then leave Bob's support fleet in the same system they moved it right next door in case the node crashed.
However, the node didn't crash and Bobs support fleet couldn't jump in and neither could D2's.
This Bob cheats on a daily basis is old.
But continue with the whole "Bob must be cheating cause I lost" deal, it has worked so well for the coalition so far.

QFT
Possibly the smartest thing Shin Ra has ever said. SM could have guessed that the coallition support wouldn't have made it due to the lag and the surrounding fleets, but had the titan jumpbridged they simply could have called the support in.

m8, i will give you a hint why:
its something not everybody has, but everybody wants, something that is hated and loved in the same time. something that nobody wants to fight against but everybody want to fight on its side....
u get my point?
its something the coalition dont have the balls to use for.. but bob do..
its ultimate superweapon - 3 of them for 3 support fleets of 200 people
u know:
one titan to onw them all on fleet to be owned

in my opinion, if you could understand the plans that bobs leadership is spinning then you would not fall into it.

u only saw plan a in f-t, perhaps if plan a would have not been such a success then you could have seen plan b

And that's actually my point. Yes, it could be a 'coincidence', or a true attempt to allow for a fight after the LV fiasco. We'll never know, and so the conspiracy theorists will always have some ammo. And any empire built with such suspicions won't get respect.
You also forget to mention that since the devblog and the LV fiasko not a single fight reached a possible 700 cap and had multiple 100 more guys trying to jump in. The 700er cap was also -not- confirmed by anyone official. So far we have a rumor that some guy talked to a guy who was in a system with a gm who told him there is a cap. That the jumpbrige didnt work might also be down to the fact that there was insane lag in all systems, both target and exit system and ontop jumpbridges arent the most reliable feature in this game as seen in smaller engagements first hand.
What you are effectively doing is the typical media type of approach. Summing up some facts and leaving a bunch of questions open so the ppl who dont question anything run to the obvious conclusion.
BoB had little support in the system to actually get a fight and because they were camping the systems around this one and could have incase of emergency moved their forces inside. That coalition might try to crash the node and possibly would by the sheer amount of ppl they would jump in was no secret either so reducing the own numbers seemed reasonable, especially if you consider the rumors about "jumpin" priorities over "login" ones. If the rumor is true and you have your support outside you can atleast hope to get into the same "jumpin" category to help your crashed brothers instead of having all eggs in one basket.

So,by saying BoB couldnt jump their fleet in, you agree that the Nodes where unstable and there was a certain amount of instability? Then why did CCP claim it was working perfectly when people petitioned ships lost? Huh?Care to answer? Wassup with this 'forum warning' thing?Did I upset you?

but the fact that BOB's fleet was also lagged out and unable to do much in the sorrounding systems is besides the point.

Im thinking that the point was that it was suppose to be caped at 700 and only 450 ish got in system. BOD had 300??? something in system before we jumped our dreads in. Another point we only got 70 or so dreads in the rest either crashed on jump or got jump timers. Anyway with BOD actually havening a t20 helping them in there past ventures it really wouldn't surprise me if they used there out of game powers on this one as well. now for the proof of how many people where in local during the fight just watch the vid that bob released about the fight keep an eye on the local number. Anyway my point of view and i have no problems with most bob members i was once one of them but if they are resorting to out of game means to win its not cool.

Just out of curiosity, did anyone warn the devs of the battle that will take place? With sufficient warning I'm sure the devs could have placed the system on its own node to support the amount of ships. Perhaps CCP should envision keeping a supernode or two that can support 1000+ ships just for these occasions? -----------------------------------------------------

I should probably point out that at no time during the fight there ever 700 people in the that system. So yeah, wear stylish tinfoil hats all you want but at the end of the day its CCP's hardware that screwed up, not some invisible bob fleet that capped out the system limits. -----

The coalition needs to stop trying to beat BoB in it`s game. Attack different POS`s in different regions at the same time. Make sure BoB and their allies can`t be at the same time on both places.
Honestly, I really don`t care about who win this one: I like the BoB side somewhat because DDC is there (ex-allies, I know), but I also like the Coalition because I respect RED. I can add more reasons why I want both sides to lose, too.
So... Hope both sides lose.
And the Coalition too has to start toying with the server...
