Was reading the player guide about production, BPO's, BPC's, ME's , PE's ,etc okay this was fine. Then I got to the equasions I mean get the outa the city !I'm looking at something that resembled an equasion of what actually occurs at a nuclear moment ( the BIG BOOM ! )you need a degree in nuclear physics to work it out.I'm okay with adding, subtraction & multiplication but this : 1/1+2(a/b)X 4(7^7)-2(4-5)+>3x1.5+3(z+y) = has me lost,TOTALLY ! Couldn't we have a simple , if you do this & this you'll get that but if you do this & that you'll get **** ! well you get my drift

The important parts are this:
If you double a blueprint's material or productivity level, then add one to the doubled level, you halve the amount of waste (of materials and time, respectively). For almost all blueprints, 20% of the time spent is wasted.
Waste that can be reduced by doing work on a blueprint and waste that can be reduced by training Production Efficiency are added together, but decreasing the waste caused by one has no effect on the waste caused by the other (i.e. they are added, not multiplied).

Just get a program like EVE MLcalc that works all this out for you. Some popular Eve-related websites have build calculators too.

Look for it in the Stations, Starbases, and Outposts forum for industrial arts information. I use MLCalc. Great tool.

I don't sweat the maths too much. Luke Skywalker never needed to use a calculator to work out his hit damage etc, so neither shall I.

I suggest you ask a friend who has basic math skills to make you an excel sheet with this equation. You would then only have to enter parameters and you would see the result whithout having to perform this basic math equation.

Good attitude for combat, bad attitude for industry.
Unless you are my competitor.

Luke may not have needed to worry about material waste and profit margins, but I'll bet the dude that sold the rebels his X-Wing didn't need to worry about transversal velocity and signature radius either.

It's there as some people want exact answers. It's a game and so it's based on mathematics, there's always an equation behind everything. The more exactly knowledge you have the better you can grasp the concept.
For the more 'general' idea you can just post something like you did now, where you'll get replies like the one GC13 gave you. A nice overview.
Tho I have to agree that most guides would benefit from having 2 versions. 1 - the short story: "basicly works like this" 2 - the exact equations: "1/1+2(a/b)X 4(7^7)-2(4-5)+>3x1.5+3(z+y) ="
Makes it easier to read, has the correct apropriate information, as well as a general overview for those that prefer that.
