It won't work...
The only reason the things work is because of the "WTF?!" factor... once people realize that there's no real reason to obey them, they'll stop doing it...
And, those things sicken me. ------------------------- Sigs are for noobs. |

On that note, whenever someone says "9/11", I like to point out that "9/11" has happened every year for quite a long period of time.

Hmm... Seems quite effective, which is good, but still scary as hell. Hell, I'd prefer knowing I'm all alone rather than knowing I'm being watched.

Stick tranquilizers on them than it's more effective. But yeah as the other person said you can just ignore the voice and give a one fingerd salute to the camera, doubt you'd get arrested. --------

Still not as good as the anti-graffiti wall in Naked Gun.
And in all seriousness, no amount of complaining is going to stop councils from implementing these.

Just how close do we have to get to a surveillance society/police state until we find it unacceptable? CCTV's everwhere? Patriot Act? Talking cameras?
What will they think of next?

Or blatantly, if I get a job there;

Interesting link Kyozoku, as for the 'a step closer to 1984' security really isnt the issue nor for that matter recieving orders from odd places. Orwald's depiction of society in 1984 was so derranged because it couldn't accept itself. It was constantly rewritting history as if to say this is what should have happened, then erasing any other truth. So far I think the progress in technology has had the opposite effect to what 1984 suggested.

I may be a bit dim, but what's wrong with the club card? The only thing I can possibly think of is maybe them tracking what you buy? I'm not really concerned if they know what type of bread I bought last month!
As long as these ways of tracking what people do are confined to public places I'm not fussed. Someone doing stupid things in the street are likely to be witnessed by other people anyway, it's not like it's an invasion of a privacy that would otherwise be there. It's not removing any of my rights or making me feel any more watched than I already do when surrounded by people so if it helps keep anti-social behaviour down, I'm happy.
