If home is where one feels most as oneself then I would say it was when I assumed an alternate identity for almost five years and found myself increasingly lost in my own legend, a work of fiction. The persona of a vociferous corporate lawyer turned violent functional psychopath became reality as the barriers between personality and memory blended into a gestalt form where irony was no longer ironic. There is something particularly disconcerting when you become essentially wetgraved in your own mind while a you-that-is-not-you decides to zip up an intern inside a piece of designer luggage and throw them into a pool during another bout of crash induced psychosis and nihilistic bacchanalia.
Honestly? Veikitamo Gesakaarin, not even once. Even if it did allow me some insight into a mind where a lack of moral and ethical limits led only to ever increasing depravity and hubris. My own little parable, I suppose.
I might ask the inverse: where and what makes you feel closest to home?

Matias Kurovassi wrote:I might ask the inverse: where and what makes you feel closest to home? I think I've become quite rootless, over the years of drifting around low- and nullsec, and now w-space. I don't even own personal real estate anymore. I've substituted with people I'm comfortable around, and states I'm in.
These days I really appreciate the edge of sleep, satisfied tiredness, the simple comfort of rest, and idle wishes crowding out the general chaos and stress of the day.

Every so often it comes out that people think of me as child-like, or even "a child." I don't think that's completely wrong (my subjective experience is about two years old, now), and I've sometimes even described myself as a ridiculously well-educated two (now) year-old.
I also don't feel like it's very accurate, though. Based on my biological age my brain's judgment centers should be pretty well developed, and it's not like I don't know things. I might be a little naive sometimes, but it's a little hard for me to tell what part of that is me being ignorant or foolish and me just ... kind of not caring a lot what happens to me, or what people think. If it feels like I should do something, I maybe don't care a lot if I suffer or disappear from this world because I do what I think is right. My existence is not so dear to me as that.
(So far I haven't had to revert to a backup. Occasionally to my surprise.)
Maybe some lessons you only really learn from remembered pain, though. I've collected some of those, including one or two that made me want to die. I hope it's possible to be "a grownup" without being basically a big ball of scar tissue.

Fills me with intrigue. These drone hives are probably relatively isolated from one another due to the difficulty of getting into contact with each other and humanity, and thus, they may develop unique phenotypes during their isolation. That would make an interesting study.
Other than the big names, which Gallente politicians should I know of?

It depends on the season, the time of day, the density of the rain and so many other factors, although due to the gleaming golden spires, the rain - water being reflective, can sometimes be a beautiful golden hue when there is a mix of sun and clouds, positively divine!

In respect to Miz's request I'll step up.
Korama IV. Yes, it's a gas planet, yes it'd be on a basic residential hab-dome, but the sky during the passing storms beat the ever-living snot out of any firework's show. That, and if the old foreman is alive he has some nice quarters with an artificial garden and a favour he owes me.

No further than coming back to fix my mistakes personally, replacing what the afflicted had lost no matter the cost or, in the case of death, provide monetary compensation enough to support dependants through life and even meeting them in the flesh to apologise and kneel personally.
Though for the latter, it's usually what I do for staff who are not supposed to be affected and were allowed to be affected by the mistake due to my own negligence. That's thankfully rare.
Yes, I can afford to provide monetary and material compensations only because I am a capsuleer. If I were still a baseliner, I usually just stick to fixing my mistakes personally at personal cost of life and limb since that was the most I could do to make up for something I had done. You break it, you fix it, as Ma used to beat into me.
What was the most disastrous mistake you had ever done thus far?

Elmund Egivand wrote:What was the most disastrous mistake you had ever done thus far? Oh, hell. I'm in a mood, and this thread needs a kick in the pants. So.
One bleak morning in early YC115, I'd had a few drinks and was feeling a little low, so I thought that in one fell swoop, I'd go and make right the entire slowly accumulating pile of mistakes I'd made up until then. Over the course of a few more drinks, I divested myself of just about all my assets, remotely aborted all of my clones, and canceled my clone contracts. I cried a bunch. Then I put my sidearm under my chin and pulled the trigger.
It turns out you can botch shooting yourself, especially if you're not particularly sober or well-coordinated.
Station medical services responding to the firearm discharge shoved the resulting mess into a cryokit post-haste, took one look at recent credit and insurance history, and started calling lawyers. Those found both a sloppy DNR and an old clone health insurance policy I'd taken out with an Anshar subsidiary, back in the day, and entirely forgot to cancel. The bonus on it was high enough for them to fight the DNR in court, but the particulars of the case of course a giant mess, so it took quite a while to be hashed out..
..and that's the story of how I spent two years slumbering in Doomheim.
I can't rightly decide whether the disastrous mistake was pulling the trigger, or misjudging the angle, but surely one of the two must've been it.
Have you ever cringed hard at someone oversharing a personal story?
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.

Yes. Though I only cringe when the other fellow is oversharing that personal story is:
1. Very drunk 2. Speaks incoherent (relates to 1) 3. Is clearly speaking out of his arse. 4. Forces gags 5. Includes explicit details to exaggerate his 'prowess'.
Other than that, I'm okay.

Howling winds, carrying little razors we call 'snow'. Vision limited to barely a step or two ahead. The chill cutting deep, into your very bones. Every step sinking deeper than you expect, slowing you down and costing you thrice the energy you can afford. Weariness settling in both your mind and your body.
Yet you persist. You thrive. You are pushed forwards into the teeth of the gale by what lies within, undaunted and unstoppable. You live.
In the worst of the winter storms, that is where you grow familiar with the fires within. That is when you'll know you're alive. Matar will test her children and you will be better for it.
