Hello, I am a 5 million SP caldari combat pilot with all my learning skills and a set of +3 implants.
I currently have less than 1,000 SP into mining, but I want to get into PVP and the current ship market is not to my liking so I want to start mining my own minerals for ship construction. I have a builder friend who will do the work for free if I can bring him mats.
So, what is a good skill plan to train up to the kind of mining (probably in corporate ops) level where I can get the materials for a Raven in less than a week of mining...

Go for hulk... ships and especially those above cruisers eat minerals as... well... as a very hungry mineral eater.

have you seen tha materials needed for a raven? its quite a bit in my book and hulks are falling in price i see them around 350million now.

I would go for the hulk to save time with the extra mining bonuses. Also the bigger cargo bay is great. It is totaly possible to mine almost all the necesary minerals in less than a week...
My sugestion:
If you want to pvp and if you don't mind making the investment on a hulk, you may want to consider training an alt. With 320M/360M you could get a GTC for 90 days, more than enough to train uber mining skills. That way, you won't have to pause the pvp related training on your main. When you have trained the alt, your main could be your alt's hauler. By the end of the day, the difference between solo mining and having a miner/hauler duo is fantastic. No ship swaping on the miner, ore thief free.
There are a few posts/guides about what skills are needed to be an uber miner. Let me see if I could provide some linkage...
