Tippia is gone. Yet I remain.
Who's next?
Maybe you should start fighting your own battles, rather than relying on someone else to do it for you whilst riding on their coat-tails, singing their praises, tossing pot-shot ad-hominem and fallacies over their shoulder.

What continues to amaze me in this whole code/permit/whatever thing is the fact that it is always, but always, the miners/pvers who constantly spew the most vile, belligerent and toxic language.

Redirected agression, the stress from suffering an agression and not having the ability to return it in the same way as has been inflicted causes that the stress is relieved in a different form of agression.
It's a well known human behavior, and the notorious part with it is that it is a reaction to perceived agression, thus it doesn't happens when there is no perception of agression. Perception is the key word.
This is why the victims call names to gankers and gankers pretend that being called names it's an inappropiate behavior rather than just pushing back after being pushed.
A blows B's ships knowing that B can't do anything about it, then B calls names to A knowing that there's nothing A can do about it.
Then the score is settled and each goes back to his business. It's just a game after all, if a player can't take some namecalling after ganking someone, then maybe he should stop messing with people. |

Buying a permit and putting it in your bio is about the same as painting "I'm an idiot and susceptible to coercion " on the side of your spaceship. Mine with others. Fleet up. There's safety in numbers. Mine in a procurer or skiff.
Train a character for good ECM skills. There's fun game content to be had with a Grffiin to a Falcon. Don't be a jerk or a whiner in local. |

This is a term and concept applied in veterinary science, not to humans.
As you pointed out, the resultant frustration and aggression is unleashed on a subject that is incapable of defense and irresponsible for causing it.
You are badly mixing apples and oranges.

Right. Dragging you wayward lot back to the topic.....
Can someone please define 'a thing', as in 'Are mining permits actually a thing?'.
We need to be clear about the OP's use of the term if we're to answer the question, so if HadleysHope would do us the courtesy of returning to the discussion, I'd welcome an opportunity to quiz him about his understanding of the term.
In any case, perhaps we could hear some definitions from the floor?
The answer to the question posed in the thread title will of course be either 'yes' or something vague and essentially unconvincing. But we need to get our definitions straight first.

Mining permits are a thing if you pretend that they are a thing. If not, then they are not.
