Do you realy think that it is a smart move to do a fanfest this year after everything what happened?
Maybe 2 or even more of your GM's might get killed by an lynchmob this year.

Count me in and I only need to buy the fan fest pass. Sometimes it pays off to live in Iceland, which is a RARE occasion.

For the people who would be arriving later on the Thursday can they still sign up for the Round Table discussions?

Originally by: Phil Carter I want to get there this year but wth is it so expensive? 369 Ç for flight and hotel + 65 Ç FF Pass? I can book a flight in my local store to (and back from) Ibiza for one week all-inclusive for less than 300 Ç. Why are three days of Iceland so expensive? :(
Mainly because Iceland is a small island and they have to import everything.
Originally by: hundurinn Count me in and I only need to buy the fan fest pass. Sometimes it pays off to live in Iceland, which is a RARE occasion.
Oveur and Nozh was down in Copenhagen last weekend, and we went into some expensive clothes type store with brand clothes only. I thought it was way too expensive and that you could get that stuff cheaper somewhere else anyway. They told me that it was still about half price compared to Iceland. I'm never moving there, I'm way too cheap for that...

It's first come first served, but if there are seats left you can sign up of course.

When you can get a Tequila shot for 50 krona in Europe compared to 500 krona here in Iceland, then you just know something is wrong.

For this years FanFest "lootbag" or "FanFest Bag" I reccomend the following:
1. EVE-O Postcard = 5 dollar 2. EVE-O Poster = 10 dollar 3. EVE-O Access tag = 50 dollar 4. EVE-O Large Name sign to have around the neck, for easier recognition at the FanFest = Priceless
TeH Idea!
Well, Nametag or not. THIS WILL BE FUN!!!

I forwarded the whole nametag idea, and it was well recieved. There are no decisions on it yet, but there's a good chance we might get some form of nametags.

Seriously. Frekkin A. More Kiwi's the better. It is absolutly fantastic.
As for getting flights from NZ, First time caytlyn and I used Malyasian Airlines, they where ok. Last year we went Thain airline (business class) and stopped in Bangkok for a fews days on teh way home ... which was really really worth it.
Hope to see you there.
Unfortunately I am going a bit on the cheap, so it will be cattle-class for me. The bookings for the Icelandair package are done for myself and a friend. Should be pretty awesome. Staying the extra day to hopefully see some sights around Reykjavik - already had someone suggest I take some landrover tour to a local dormant(dead?) volcano. I'll have to do some searching and see what touristy things Iceland have to offer.
Will be at least 4 of us from NZ there then :-)
Now its just the long wait until the event. Sigh.

Currently, it might be best if those nametags did not mention alliance.
Somehow, with the current community infighting, this could get ugly. --

Are you saying we are not grown up people?
At last years FanFest I was in ASCN, which where at War with BoB. But guess what, I had lot of nice chats with people from - yes exactly - Band of Brothers.
The fanfest is all about meeting people - friend or foe - over a cold beer. Because in front of the allmighty god CCP, we are all equal!
FanFest is a social gathering! Why not have fun for a while!??

I don't think more destinations will be added this year at least. You can check www.icelandair.ca to put together flight and hotel yourself, or use the closest US package.

Originally by: Grimster I solo booked this one from Manchester UK, now because flights from there are only on a Monday and Friday I decided to make a week out of it, Monday 29th Oct - Monday 5th Nov. Flight was a piffling 180 quid return. Hotel another 241 quid at the cabin for the whole week (don't contact the hotel directly - they wanted about 80 quid a night when I did that) go through an online broker for a decent price.
Booked it THEN told the wife I was going to Iceland for a week.
Remember kids - forgiveness is much easier to earn than permission.
I have a theoretical pass this year, as she's off to NY with her sis around the same time. Waiting for the right time to slip it into conversation.
4th time for me!

It will be my 2nd time there, and I am taking out a week vacation in November for it. This year I am going to stay one day longer. Maybe I will be able to see more of Iceland this year then just the hotel.
I am ofcource very much looking forward to see you all there!

Edited by: Felton Fundenberger on 05/06/2007 11:46:16 Hello everyone.
I just wanted to confirm that, yes it is possible to see me at the FanFest 2007. Just today i booked my flight and hotel. last night i got my event pass.
I do how ever have a question for the locals or CCP staff to answer. My hotel is Radisson SAS 1919, it is supposed to be in the centre. Is it within walking distance to event location or do i need my shuttle to get there?
Thank you kindly and see you all there.

I'd guess around 15 min walk. Iceland in November can be a bit cold though so warm clothes would be good if you plan to walk.

Edited by: Felton Fundenberger on 05/06/2007 19:31:46 Thank you Wrangler. 15 minutes is not that bad.
And what you call cold is warm to me, as i am a from Finland :D You have that "Golf" thing to keep you fairly warm, we don't. I will be in there from 29th to 5th, so i plan to do some excursions outside Reykavik.
Anyways to other folks from Finland. Go to www.icelandair.fi and check their flight and hotel packages. It's not as cheap as "Early bird" deal some lucky have in their countries. But it's quite good deal anyways.

You should probably compare the cost (and time?) of going to Sweden for the Fanfest package to the cost of taking a non Fanfest package from Finland. I haven't so I don't know which one would be cheaper, but if someone does you're welcome to post it here.

Ok here goes. Early bird package(http://www.icelandair.se) from Stockholm to FanFest 2007 is 393 euro. Return flight from Helsinki to Stokholm(http://www.blue1.fi) is 59 euro or 19 euro if you take the late night flight. Since i can't read Swedish info on hotel type in early bird package is a mystery to me. Getting from Finland to FanFest 2007 is a LOT cheaper using Stokholm route and getting an Early bird package, than using direct flight from Helsinki to Reykjavik as i did. I chose to stay longer in Iceland and took a good hotel, so that up's my costs.
So i paid way too much for my trip, but hey it's EVE Online FastFest 2007 :)
PS. I can get my FanFest pass from event location by showing my email/code? PSS. I want to be there now.

There will be registration at the Fanfest location, so just bring your email code and you'll get your access pass and such.
I can understand that, we have a lot of interesting things planned.

Hmm... My 22nd birthday is shortly at that, and I should have a job and a place and money by then, so I might see about coming... Can't be any more degrading than going to the Games Workshop Games Day and Golden Demon when I was younger... Plus this way I can get drunk with devs!
Do the devs get drunk with the players at this thing, or is it like going to see a movie premier where all the 'little people' sit at the back with all the filmstars at the front who promptly walk off at the end so as not to bee seen with aforementioned 'little people'?
I'd quite like to have a few pints with Ginger in particular, I think he's on to something with his 'Ginger Breeding Program' (I myself am a brown-haired blonde-highlighted stylish person) that I'd like to discuss... What about 'back-stage' passes and so on?
Basically, what I'm trying to say is if I come, can I go to the pub with CCP and have a pint and a chat? Or am I stuck with the rest of the players?

I strongly doubt you will see the Devs raving on the tables or crawling under the chairs on the fanfest, but besides that they will all be mingling with the players at the party, enjoying their beer! At least thats the way it was last year. So you will be able to speak with them. Just understand theres a lot of players there, and they all wants to have a word with them, so dont be suprised if you cant keep them for yourself!
It will be fun!

Taking your laptop downtown and having coffee is one of the hippest things to do in Reykjavik. Most places downtown have wireless Internet. But will your wife be so busy that she can¦t take a few days off and just walk around Reykjavik enjoying new sights, go to the spa etc?

Especially if they buy me beer. :) And yes, we drink and chat and are around all the time.
