Originally by: Felysta Sandorn Do the devs get drunk with the players at this thing, or is it like going to see a movie premier where all the 'little people' sit at the back with all the filmstars at the front who promptly walk off at the end so as not to bee seen with aforementioned 'little people'?
I'd quite like to have a few pints with Ginger in particular, I think he's on to something with his 'Ginger Breeding Program' (I myself am a brown-haired blonde-highlighted stylish person) that I'd like to discuss... What about 'back-stage' passes and so on?
Basically, what I'm trying to say is if I come, can I go to the pub with CCP and have a pint and a chat? Or am I stuck with the rest of the players?
There will be a lot of Devs there, just walk up to some random guy and start chatting, Devs are humans too.
Originally by: Niccolado Starwalker I strongly doubt you will see the Devs raving on the tables or crawling under the chairs on the fanfest
Oh, that depends entirely on how much we drink.
Originally by: Anderi Bourdieu The Hotel Loftleidir doesn't seem to have internet access in the rooms. Does Reykjavik have any nice quiet internet cafes or place my wife can work in peace (it's going to be months end so she is very busy then)?
They have wireless in the lobby and on some floors, though I'm not sure which one.

We are always looking for new iniates into the breeding program, there is always a place for good people!
Especially if they buy me beer. :) And yes, we drink and chat and are around all the time.

We didn't add it, since we don't offer tours of the office.
There's also some issue with having two 11's, but we'll sort it out. The second 11 is actually 12.

Having looked carefully at the map and compared it to an number of existing maps it is impossible to know where the low-sec and lawless 0.0 areas are. Where will we get Concordokened for podding haulers? We need to know where there are Medical Facilities (rumors are the damsel was seen near Hotel Loftleidir).
Should we expect BOB and GOONS to have strategic areas bubbled? Will pirates be camping around Laugavegur preying on carebears? Can we expect lag to be a factor in the number of people in Laugardalslaug; will their be queues to enter? Have measures been taken to prevent the Black Screen of Death as fans exit their hotels?
Hope the FanFest Rocks!

Who needs the fanfest when the server has serious disconnection problems. Plenty of users are displaying them in the tecnical forum but noone seems to care. We get disconnected every 5 minutes
CONNECTION LOST it says all the time. I pay for this game and i can't play it and it's your fault.
Fix this irritating problem with the disconnections first and THEN we will have time for celebrations.
I am sorry for this but perhaps if i throw the problem in your face perhaps then you may notice it.

Laugavegur is more of high sec with lots of people, but I wouldn't recommend going too far on the sidestreets, I almost got attacked there myself a few years ago (though my WCS worked and I quickly got back to the main street) but I'd say that qualifies as low sec. As for medical facilities, we did put a pharmacy on the map.

I was thinking that too, for everyone who doesn't know, Pizza Hut is in the same building as the Nordica.
We'll get some changes to the map done in the near future.

Yup - Get Nordica added please (and yes Pizza Hut is at the corner of the same building that is Nordica)
Originally by: CCP Wrangler I forwarded the whole nametag idea, and it was well recieved. There are no decisions on it yet, but there's a good chance we might get some form of nametags.
Good to hear that this most likely(?) will happen. I hate it when at 2am (and later), I have to ask to get a name spelled for the 4th time...
Definatly a must.
A very cool approach would be for ppl to be able to indicate on an online form here, if they want corp and/or alliance added as well (same as with the forums - Actually.. might even simply copy that setting...)

Are you saying we are not grown up people?
At last years FanFest I was in ASCN, which where at War with BoB. But guess what, I had lot of nice chats with people from - yes exactly - Band of Brothers.
The fanfest is all about meeting people - friend or foe - over a cold beer. Because in front of the allmighty god CCP, we are all equal!
FanFest is a social gathering! Why not have fun for a while!??
Why are you shutting people down? I expect there will be some tense questions from some people this year - which is expected all considering - and I look forward to hearing official responses to many questions from the floor.
I happen to agree that alliance/corp affiliations are not nessisary on a name tag - some people have multiple characters in a variety of corps/alliances. . .
In anycase, its going to be a fun little trip.

I too expect to hear a little what CCP plans to do to avoid such things in the future. But that does not change the case: What happend where not CCP accepted. And CCP as a company does not promote such actions.
Also, by removing the Alliance from the "ID card" because just one failed to live up to the standards most of us requires from the playerbase as CCP, is just to declare you have failed. What happend happend once. It was a one-time case. And should be treated as such! To punish CCP indefinitely for it, plus the unknowlingly Alliance and corporation is to be almost as bas as the cheater!
There will be questions. I have no problem with that. I am sure CCP have no problems with that. But everyone should also know when they are taking the case a little to far! And now 4-5 months later its time to move on and forget. Letting old grudges tear on you for this long is not good. Not for you. not for the playerbase and not for CCP. Noone will win on that.
FanFest is also supposed to be a player gathering! A friendly meeting in a friendly atmosphere, where friends or foes INGAME can meet over a beer! I cant hardly call that shutting people down as you say. But it does not change the matter: People need to grow up or at least pretend to be mature enough to see when the case is closed
I will enjoy my beers with everyone on the FanFest this year. Even T20 if he is there. Because for me the case is closed.
Now, lets debate something more fun instead! The FanFest itself! I have seen enough threads on this topic! Dont let us make another one!

And back to the Fanfest discussion... Is there any possebility that the majority of the event can be free from smoking? I know there are people atending that have astma or similar, myself included, that suffered from the dense smog that was in the common area of last years Fanfest... Was very similar to the fog of war you find in strategy games actually... It cant be too hard to arrange a smoking area where the ones who smoke can go to when they feel like a smoke...
I allso love the nametag idea and hope that it becomes a reallity... Maybe have the alliance logo on them or simillar...

Since June 1st, smoking indoors in public places are prohibited by law, such as hotels, bars, restaurants and cafTs. So the fan-fest should be smoke-free.
Iceland must be a fun place...

Smoking wasn't allowed at the Fanfest last year either, only in the hotel bar just outside. Unfortunately people either didn't know about it or ignored it and smoked there anyway. We'll make sure everyone knows not to smoke inside this year.

Actually, I remember that the no-smoking signs on the tables inside were replaced by ashtrays in the late afternoon or evening. Making sure that that doesn't happen will help a lot I guess.

The trip to and from the Blue Lagoon, including entrance fee, is about Ç42. Hotel Cabin is about 3 blocks away from Laugavegur, so we're talking just a few minutes walk. I don't know exactly how many hours, but it's not much, some sun around the day, mornings and afternoons are probably dark. I don't think you need to worry about crimes around there, since it's a weekend people will probably be drinking fn places around that area though. We do not give tours of the CCP Office and therefore the location is not put on our map.

All the girls at CCP have had power meetings at the coffee machine and set up a plan of action to get some fun stuff to happen at Fanfest for the women attending. Some of you may think no women will be at a game meet up but we expect to see a lot more of us this year. For one, all the female devs are attending. With CCP recruiting massively, we gained a lot of female devs in the last year.
Plans are contingent upon how many women EVE players are attending, so be sure to indicate in your registration that youÆre female. The more the merrier and the more activities we can plan in advance. If you know a few girls who play EVE, let them know that there will be a lot of other women at Fanfest and they will be made welcome by everyone, especially by all the ladies of CCP.
IÆll keep this thread updated and answer any questions, but itÆs too early to spoil or hint at what we are planning, but take my word for it, itÆs going to be fun. .
