And there are several other ways to counter probing.
- cycle between safespots - Staying alligned and warp out once you see someone on your overview - keep your MWD running
All work with pretty much 100% effeciency.
Wrong, you better have alot of safespots, waiting at a safespot after a probe result are great ways to get kills. Staying aligned does crap against a good prober and FC, especially in a large ship. Keeping MWD running only works for VERY fast ships...

Making it so that probes cant be seen on overview will make it so that people wont know they are being scanned for. Alot of people will only resort to constantly changing safespots if they see a probe on directional scan. And changing it so that probes dont show on the overview wont give them an essential 'heads up'. So they will have to continually keep warping, log off, or try to escape through a gate.

The current system lets you know when you're being probed , if you have a clue that someone is hunting you down.
Uum...probes stick out like a sore thumb on the scanner even when cluttered with wrecks/moons e.t.c ----------

Uhm, so you want to force us lowsec mission runners to warp to gate/safe whenever an unknown or hostile appears in local, since we can't even try to scan for probes anymore? Yeah, very well thought out idea and not at all self serving indeed
And the reason for probing ships not appearing on scanner while probes do?
Well, to me it has always been to protect me from being found out in return. Not to make my target unaware that it is being probed. Many people will go into safespot-cycle mode when baddies appear in local anyway and not even bother scanning for probes.
Or even easier, they just fit a cloak and ss+cloak whenever local turns bad. And if you can't scan for probes anymore, even more people will put cloaks on their solo ships. --------- There is no 'n' in turret There is no 'r' in faction There is no 'a' in Kestrel There is no 'e' in Caldari

Not everyone is aware that they can be probed outside max scanner range. A clever prober would ensure that he is at the correct range to be outside the scanner, but still able to probe --
