Jet can, other guy picks up. You're in the middle of space so don't expect the safety of a broker. That is and should remain a station service.

Thats not a question of safty. When you meet someone in real wich you want to give something, do you place it in a package and drop it on the ground saying "pick that up, its for you" ?
Interpersontrade is a feature in nearly every rpg i played so far. So when ships can dock in stations why cant they dock at each other to trade. I can understand that such a feature be exploited by macro¦s.
On the other hand everyone here connects to the internet with the knowlege that you can alway gather a virus of some kind no matter how good your protectionsoftware is. You dont allow the virus creater to take you the pleasure of the internet, why let the macros allow to disable the improvement of the game?
I like the idea and i already suggested it.

Nah, it would allow ship-to-ship transfers, and kill ore theft, which is a perfectly valid profession.
I'd support it if, while the trade window is open, the goods offered are present in a jetcan between the ships, and stealing them flags you to both parties. Then, when the trade is completed or cancelled, the can pops and the contents go to the appropriate people.
How's that?

What about make the both docked ships complete helpless while docked and even when they undock that they are unmanuverable for a set time. So that they are easy targets.?

Doesn't work in high-sec though.

Ok i see your point. Right now the ore thieves have an easy and risk free way to gather others ore and such a feature would force them to risk to be concorded. I am really sorry for them :P
So whe are forced to make it the thieves as easy as possible to steal from us cause the thieves dont agree that we get a safer way?

It is a question of safety since a direct connection would not only eliminate the problem of thieves it would also negate the trust needed when trading cargo in space as there is no interface with a way to hold off accepting until payment is made, cargo or isk. How you want to compare trade between spaceships in deep space represented on a computer screen to interperson trade irl really is lost to me. There is no way that is arguement is representative to me . The macroers didn't really enter in to the equation when i first considered this, your idea would not be very different macro wise to jetcans, they would only benefit from increased security which i don't think should be added in the first place.
With a can jetted during the trade by the interface its still more secure than the current system (in the case of a macro the can has to spawn while now it is usuallyalready there), but its a step in the right direction. I wouldn't have a big problem with it when the box is quite different to the station one - one item field to drag and drop to like a jetcan and no accept buttons. Just an automated jetcan. With the added disadvantage that trading ships cannot move or have active modules. For mining i'm a big supporter of larger secure cans anyways, they stayed behind when amounts spiked with the addition of barges and that really never got fixed...
