a little more war costs - is not a big deal for the PRVTR
Your maths is wrong. currently weekly is 5.5 Billion for 70 wars, it now going up to 245Billion/Week.
10 War is deccing fee of 500 and a weekly fee of about 5billion under the new system

It's a needed change.
You can still PvP in a lot of ways you just can't attack anyone at will in 1.0 space as you were never meant to.
Funny how most of the alliances are quite fine with the "nerf to alliance wars" i wonder why ? Maybe because PA wasn't a real one to begin with ?

Anyway, if you can't see anything wrong with 70+ war decs in what's supposed to be the safest of the security spaces, then you need to re-evaluate your whole tactics in-game. What the Privateers were doing is NOT what the devs intended with high sec.

I'm not sure if i read the Dev Blog correctly, but here's what I understood.
Currenty:
Corp A has 10 wars, costing them 500Mil per week to keep running. They war dec an 11th at a cost of 50Mil and pay 550Mil per week to keep running.
Post Patch:
Corp A has 10 wars, costing them 500Mil per week to keep running. They war dec an 11th at a cost of 550Mil and pay 550Mil per week to keep running.
So it's only the initial start up cost that has increased. If that is the case then i don't think it will have THAT big a change, or will it?

I heard that high sec used to be a free-for all. You know some devs personaly? just curious as you know what Devs want/intend. SO .. high sec is intended to be Safe? Why have Wars at all? Noobcorps are your best bet for safe play. But - even that shouldnt be 100%.

It`s funny how people experience it as a nerf, IMHO it`s a balancing they`re doing, kinda like they`ve been balancing invention as of late to make more sense...
But it DOES make you wonder how long before they fix the "exploit" that is insta-wardecs
I, for one, will be eagerly awaiting PA`s next move, see what they come up with. I`m sure it will be grand and innovative.

It takes someone really cheesing a system mechanic, to make people wonder if it's broken or not.
Now, I like privateers, they're great. Think it's a lovely idea. But the sheer number of wardecs they had active was truly ludicrous.
*shrug* clearly it's no accident that it refers to 'Alliance P' :).
*shrug* I don't see a problem. A few wardecs won't be too bad. More, get exponentially worse. Back in the early days, privateers cycled wartargets. *shrug*

Youve misread - its the startup AND weekly which has changed. Each war will cost the maintenance cost equal to the start cost of the newest war. in your example 550*11/week

It`s 550 mil startup AND 550 mil/war/week, so 5.5 bil per week after patch.
Edit: got beat to it AND got it wrong, too, lol

It says per war per week.
As in if you have 1 war you have 50 mil/week, if you have 2 you have 200 mil/week, if you have 3 you have 450 mil/week.
It's fairly expensive, maybe they should make it so it's this way for each war after a certain number, say 3 or so.

Thread has degraded into flames and some very undesirable comments. I reccomend that is you disagree with the proposed upcomming changes featured in the recent dev blog that you make a civil and constructive thread with why you disagree with it.
That sort of thread is likly to come to the attention of a dev more than something like this one.

First off I like Privateers, they served a purpose, they kept all our members in 0.0 where they belonged and not afk mining in some 0.9 roid belt.
Second what Privateers was/is doing is makeing Empire not safe for any corp/alliance to recruit from.
Third what were the goals of the wars Privateers had declared? There were not any. The reason War Dec came into Eve-Online was to control space and markets. If corp A had the market full of cheap rifters, and corp B wanted some of that action, they could force corp A to do what they want through froce of arms.
What privateers done was nothing short of massive griefing. If you really need a game to go to. Try Linage II I hear PK island is still up and running, where you can go kill off all the newbies you want.
Free-form Professions, ensure no limetations on professions. Be a trader, fighter, industialist, researcher, hunter pirate or mixture of them all.
