I had the idea of a web interface for training. You log in to your character page on eve-online.com for instance, and where it indicates your training/trained skills you would have some buttons for changing current skill training. So if your skill was done training at 8:45 AM, you could log onto the website from work or school when you first get in and switch it over for the day. What do y'all think? This would really help me as I am -4 GMT and in the morning when i'm heading out for work, when I would like to quickyl change the skill training on my char before i head out the door, the server is always offline ...

This idea eliminates the need to log on to build a character. Its an idea I've been kicking around in my head, but to be honest they wouldnt get nearly as many people logging on if all we had to do is go to the website to change skills.
Theres a way to make this idea work, but I cant figure out how. Seeing as the goal of any game company is to make you actually play the game, they probably wont put this in. The way they see it is, your initial intention is to log on to change a skill. You log on to find that theres a huge corp/alliance gang doing something fun. Now you start thinking "hmmm maybe i should stay on". Its all about drawing you in and immersing the player/customer in the game.

This topic is nothing new, it comes up over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over........
It hasn't been implemented in the 2+ years I have been playing, if it were going to be done one would thing that CCP would have added it by now.
They want you to play, not write some script that trains your skills via the web for you while you are on vacation in Maui :p -=^=-

that's great unless you actually work for a living and sit behind a corporate firewall unable to just fire up your eve client, connect and "play" whenever you like....
it'd actually be better for performance if a whole heap of game server resources weren't consumed by logged in or (logging in) toons just doing so to change skills or whatever - push that load over onto a webserver...

I guess I don't understand why CCP would want us to log in to build a character... Skills training is part of the game, but obviously we can't all be playing all the time. If a person is just doing long-term training, isn't it better to move the server workload of his simple task login over to a webserver? Likely the middleware to interface a PHP web solution with whatever database type the game uses might be a bit tricky to develop, but nothing really out of the ordinary. I don't use bots myself. But I would log into the website to check my character's skill training from work or perhaps while on vacation from time to time. Sometimes you only have cellular or dial-up internet access, which would be too laggy for the client but which likely could handle the skills menu on a website.

With it being legal to sell characters for ISK, it promotes character farming. So, no.
