Edited by: Par''Gellen on 22/04/2007 01:23:28 Someone might want to check the nos power on the Elder Corpum Sages (Mallers) in the level 4 mission "The Blockade" (Blood Raiders version). They are WAY overpowered. Even more powerful than the Harbingers (Apocs) which makes no sense at all...
They are far from unbeatable. In fact quite easy if you know what to look for. It just seems kinda stupid for them to have a stronger nos than their big battleship bretheren. ---

He's right, NPC database shows them draining 25/s, whereas a best named medium nos only does 3/s.
That's a bit crazy. ----------------

Perhaps they're using a neutralizer, not a nos?

Best named medium nuet is only 15/s. Same with factions.
The whole concept of the NPC missions is a bunch of weaker-than-the-player ships. I know the devs are moving towards fewer, stronger ships, and I'm really fine with that (less lag).
However, they seem to have made them stronger, without making them fewer. You can see the same thing with Ewar. My Absolution being damped from 60 some kilometers to ~7km in The Assault, or people being permajammed in the Guristas version.

. . . and this is the only plus point for Matari racial EW sucking so much. Angels are no threat with their EW - please do target paint my raven some more

This mission was extremely difficult, but I did it with my corpmate, t2/faction/rigged raven acting as tank and myself in a mostly/ t2/named domi acting as point defense. Took a few hours but was defenetly doable. I put some large energy transfer array on my domi to help my corpmate out. Luckily, the neut/noss ships are only cruiser/hac, so it doesn't take much firepower to down them. But if you ignore them you will run out of cap fast.

Edited by: Zo5o on 24/04/2007 01:33:46 I just soloed this one with the following domi setup:
Hi:
2x Drone Link Augmentor 3x Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain 1x Civilian Gatling Railgun (for drawing aggro)
Med:
4x Cap Recharger II 1x Omnidirectional Tracking Link
Lo:
2x Large Armor Repairer II 2x Armor Thermic Hardener II 1x Armor EM Hardener II 1x EANM II 1x DCII
Drones:
Only used Ogre I's and Hobgoblin I's.
EM/Thermal resists were at about 88%.
If you can learn anything from my setup, it's that this mission isn't horribly difficult. I completed it with a T2 tank (no faction stuff necessary), never had to turn on my second repper, and didn't even need T2 drones, which I'm still training for.
As for strategy, I found it was best to eschew the use of sentries, warp in at 100km out, and run away while drones killed everything. After the first spawn was done, I would wait until reinforcements were in range (my targeting range right now is 80 km), then start running and send in light drones to take out the frigs. I'd then call in the lights and send out the heavies to take out everything else, cruisers first, battleships last. This is all while running away from the spawns. By doing so, I spread all the wrecks over 300 km apart from each other, which made salvaging a pain in the butt, but I avoided getting nossed because I never let the nossers get in nos range, except for a lone nossing battleship which my nos easily countered.
So, long story short... the best way to complete this mission is to run from spawns to keep out of nos range. Yeah, it spreads the wrecks apart, but it's better than running out of cap and having to warp out a bunch of times.
On the plus side, I made about 53 million in loot/salvage/bounty/rewards off this one. Well worth the spread-apart wrecks.

Originally by: Zo5o All that being said... I still think the Blood Raider nossing needs some nerfing... I haven't experienced a BR deadspace mission where I warp into the middle of a large spawn of nossers yet, but I imagine it could get ugly rather quickly, and not everyone has the skills to fit a passive shield tank with arty guns or drones as main weapon.
I've had a level 4 BR mission where you warp in on them.
Suffice to say I'll be rejecting BR missions in the future. -- Not the opinions of my corp or my alliance. |

I never said the mission was undoable. Please read the original post. In fact, I said it was easy if you know what you are doing. That wasn't the point of the post at all. The point was that the nos'ing mallers seem far stronger than I imagine they were intended to be.
I run this mission all the time in a T2 fitted Domi and I don't even have to activate my second rep. If I don't take down those Sages ASAP though things get nasty fast. ---

The only Blood Raiders mission I've had trouble with is World's Collide. The Blood Raider stage drops you in the middle of 7 to 10 nos'ing battleships and they insta pwn my cap every time. That's actually the only Blood Raider mission I ever refuse. The rest are pretty easy on average. ---

And as if the nossing wasn't bad enough already, the BRs ALSO tracking disrupt you. I really wish someone responsible for this NPC EW mess (Zrakor?) would respond to the issue in this forum and let us know whether this is all a mistake and will be fixed, or if they intentionally made many missions far too annoying to do, thus making the whole thing even more boring than it used to be (Now I run missions selectively more than ever before...). Not to mention that this EW stuff is another boost for missile ships and a slap in the face for turret ships. How about replacing the stupid tracking disruption with a gurista-like defender spam for a change! Make Ravens suck against Blood and Sansha! --------- There is no 'n' in turret There is no 'r' in faction There is no 'a' in Kestrel There is no 'e' in Caldari
