Not sure if this is the place to do this but I just want to say I love this game. I wish I played this game long ago but I'm here now and am having a blast. I see alot of complaining on forums about this and that. I wasn't here for the early days of the game so I can't comment on the complaints. As a newish Eve online player I can say this, outside of a few things I really enjoy turning on my pc and getting lost in New Eden.
I was a Dust 514 beta till close vet. Didn't try this until that closed. The lore that I learned while playing that had me hooked. You can pretty much be whatever you want if you try and learn. It's challenging, it makes you angry, it makes you happy. The game hits all emotions. There is one thing in this game that Dust shared but this one is far beyond that game and almost all games lack this. True consiquences to everything you do.
If you loose a ship you don't just automatically respawn with everything you had. You loose it. That right there is why I wanted to try Dust and this game is like that but x10. If you make bad decisions on what you fly and where you fly it with how you fit it you could loose out on a months worth of work. No other game that I know of has this aspect to this extent. It creates real feelings as you can spend many hours, days, weeks and months to get a set up and loose it in a blink of an eye.
Also the in game community is awesome. You get your bad seeds but all games got that problem. This game though doesn't have the cancer community problem other games got as the player base is older and more mature for the most part. I see the cancer community thing here and there on forums. Go play gta, eso, and other games like that and then you'll know how good you guys, players, are compared to the rest of the gaming world.
Another thing that gets me all happy is that it's a player driven game period. We control prices. We control the content. We control what's written next. There is a possibility of real gaming greatness for a player. There's longevity as this game has been around longer than almost any game ever as in never having to buy the new game every year. There's shows, news, short stories, cartoons and that's awesome.
The games not perfect, but it's pretty fun and engaging. That's enough for me. I own almost every game console as I enjoy console over pc as it's just easier with having kids, wife and life to play on consoles. I've also had pc games since the days of dos as in pre windows. I use to play ps4 all day long. Since playing this I play maybe twice a week on my consoles all together now. I guess what I want to say is thank you for this game. This so far is probably number 3 on my list in terms of fun I've had playing a game. Other 2 would be Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 and Battlefront 2.
Keep up the good work, I'm having a blast and those that I talk to are too. |

Yea, I tried Dust myself back when it came out - didn't enjoy it too much due to the fact is was skill/time based. That is a huge turn off for a FPS game for me and I'm sure other players - There's no reason why you would allow damage and resist modifiers allowing those who played longer an advantage (Don't give me the team song nor the "its not about how many sp you have blah blah). If anything the time/SP could of been used to unlock different assets maybe.
That's a different subject all together but I'm glad you enjoyed Dust and it brought you over to an even longer Time Queue hehe |

I loved Dust but it had its issues. You could be good and not need as much skills for pubs with good support. Yet when it came to pc and qsyncs against good players squaded up sp, especially well spent, was everything. If you had proto weapon but only 1 or 2 in proficiency you'd be at a disadvantage. Lots of grinding out sp to get skills up for survivability so I understand very well. I miss the game but not the version that it ended with. |

Someone who gets it.
Welcome to EVE, may it bring you as much joy and despair as it has to the rest of us.

+1 and thanks to the OP, it's always good to see someone saying why they really like this game, reminds me of how I felt during the first few years that I played this game.
Just remember if you keep an open mind and be quick to adapt to changing situations while in game then you're sure to have a long and rewarding career here..
Fly smart and stay safe.

I just wanted to voice my opinion and what makes the game enjoyable for me. I'm sure I'll have my days where I want to punch my pc and that's a good thing. |

Give it ten years of..
On the verse of Trainspotting ill just leave this here
Choose Avatar. Choose a Skill. Choose a career. Choose a Corp. Choose a fking big ship, choose guns, web, warp scramblers and ECCM mods. Choose clone, Attributes, and Skill Plan. Choose fixed Bookmarks in space. Choose a System. Choose your friends. Choose Missions and PVP. Choose an alliance with ship fking replacement. Choose Manufacturing and wondering who the fk you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that chair watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing mining ops, stuffing fking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, wishing yourself you could quit, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fked up brats you spawned when you podded back to station. Choose EVE
Then come back and tell me you love the game...
I still do
