Edited by: Ulrich Sternaxe on 25/04/2007 14:01:27 I read the following in a different thread:
Originally by: Motivated Prophet Based on some of your comments, I'm not certain if you're aware that capital BPC's take longer to produce than it takes to build off of that BPO itself. I.e., you cannot increase your production by building off of copies in the way you can with T1 BPO's.

Well... I was under the impression that there are no blueprints that copy faster than they can be built. Is that wrong? I just had a look at the eve-online database for a couple of tech-I blueprints but I saw a clear difference in manufacturing time and copying time in favor of manufacturing for all the blueprints I looked at.
For example heavy missile launcher I (taken directly from the eve-online database):
Manufacturing Time 600 Research Mineral Time 12000 Research Copy Time 12000 Research Productivity Time 12000
Am I overlooking the fact that these numbers are base numbers and when you have many copying skills that base number can be increased much more than the manufacturing base number?
And could someone give me a couple of examples which tech I BPO's copy faster than building the products themselves?
I keep my mind open for everything... but I don't believe anything. |

"Research copy time" is for a max run BPO. Though I don't think ships copy faster than they can be built, normal modules like co-processors, as well as ammunition seem to copy faster than they build (or at roughly the same speed, since I can't see exactly how many seconds a copy takes) per run.
So make sure you're looking at the (You, per single run) stat for the copy time. The other stat is for how long it takes to make a max run BPC.

Depending on your skills, research done on the BPO and where you make the copy it may be possible to make a single run copy faster than to build one item. But it's not gonna be much. If you want to "speed build" something you are better off getting a 2nd BPO.

On some modules you can copy around 5-10 times faster than you can build. So copying 20x300 and then building on several production lines is going to speed boost your production seriously. This doesn't work with all items you have to look it up.
The speed difference will also vary a lot depending on your skills I am working on the assumption that they are equal i.e., industry 5 for quick manufacture and Science 5 for quick copying times.
PE research on your BPO will decrease production time while access to a POS will hasten copying. A radip assemply array will also hasten your manufacturing at the cost of material efficiency.
