Thankfully the Russians backed down, because I dont think US would have done that. Just imagine the scenario after that, and the only country we coudl blame for starting the 3rd WW, would be US..... And before some US citizens say we Europeasn are a ungrateful lot, since they saved us from the germans, I say its funny you decided to join, only after the Russians had lost millions of soldiers to wear down the German military forces.... something to think of hmm ?

Ok history buff, we made a deal with the russians to move our nukes out of east europe (poland i think, not sure) in exchange for them moving their nukes out of our cuba. America has an isolationist past, we always avoided getting involved in other countries affairs. Our founding fathers had that in mind when they created this country, it's not something to be ashamed of. After WWII, we became the World Police because we got tired be being dragged into these huge wars. Ironically enough, everyone complained when we left the world alone before WWII, and now that we try to get involved and be a policing force, everyone complains.

It was only because of WWII that the American economy boomed and became wealthy. Had they stayed out of WWII, they would have risked that the german empire expanded too far and become too powerful for them to take down should they decide to conquer the America's as well. Also, had the Russians destroyed the Germans on their own they would have become economically and politically powerful and influental while the US would not. USA forced my country UK into a strategic alliance with the yanks after forcing us out of Suez. UK has benefited economically from US support at a cost of a divided Europe. USA's policy in Europe is divide and rule, though we can spend our taxes on welfare rather than guns. Still EU's lack of will in the Bosnia conflict was pathetic. Europe should start spending money on defense or make sharp sticks as Russia is rightly getting more assertive ................................................ I post with my main, so should you.
