Indies have a hugh cargo bay for transporting goods right? How about letting me transport some slightly unstable goods into a gate camp .

Yes! I've even got a name for my bomber badger. "You'll be sorry!"

I had this idea a week or so ago, on another forum - I'll paste it:
Quote: Granted, this idea is probably ****-poor, unbalanced, stupid, immature and ridiculous, and of course would never be implemented, but damn it would be fun:
Ever play the C&C Red Alert series? I'm sure many of you have back in the day. I used to love playing the Libyans, because of their special unit, the suicide nuke truck.
You make a new item, some type of ridiculous bomb. It cannot be jettisoned, and it takes up like 9k m3. To even put it in the hold of a ship requires some silly arrangement of skills so if you want to use it you've really gotta put the effort/time/SP into it. It is illegal across all empire space, and the cops don't even **** around if they catch you - they disable the bomb and pop your ass.
The bomb goes off one of two ways: a right-click option on the bomb itself that has a timer (say 15 seconds or so, or better yet, have the skill required for it allow more timer options per level), or when your ship pops (unless as mentioned the cops get you, in which case it is just destroyed along with the ship). When the bomb goes off, it always pops your ship and your pod.
It should have power gradients based on range from the blast center, where if it is right up against a battleship it will pop it unless they have a stellar tank. Say like 5k radius, most BS pop, out to 15k, most cruisers pop, and out to 30k most frigs pop.
The bombs should be expensive, they should take a long time to build, say a week or two, and should be only available in contracts in 0.0 space.
Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve:

Note that the vision included the pilot ejecting and warping away. Not quite a suicide. But I think to make this idea worthwhile, a price must be paid - i.e.: the pilot goes down with the ship. Everything goes boom, even the pod.

Personally - I forsee this IF limited to indies being incredibly overpowered. It takes 15 mins for a new char to be in a badger etc (time made to make a char). In other words, just imagine alt spies, or cyno alts - And then turn it into an offensive weapon == bad.
I think a ship which costs roughly 200 mil with the ONLY purpose/ability of suiciding would be great. It would stick with CCP's anti-blob ideals, and you wouldnt see them in high sec loads (cos of the isk) and its affordable for the larger corps/alliances which can afford to combat vs those with large numbers (gate camps).

Well hey, look on the bright side of things, it might make EvE appeal to a broader audience!

I like this idea too. Just make the bomb also lower hitpoints by a lot so ships have a chance to save themselves by killing it from afar.

Now, should I use a Sigil or Bestower? Corpmate already has the Badger Bomber II.

This is key I think. To make it an even greater drawback for such drama, the bomb should require a rig or, the detonator. The detonator would be activated by a "trigger" module in a high slot, but only if the ship holds 5k m3 of the required explosive needed for it to...explode. EU or whatever. Also, the rig should have a drawback of %500 sig radius bonus to make it not so sneaky a target.

Hey, even if it did 0.0 damage to any target, but had an awesome visual effect it would be worth it
Would be a great "Holy SHT wft was that!" moment for the people who didn't read the patch notes

Slap a few skill requirements on it so people can't spawn alt suicide goons, and make one of those skills untrainable on trial accounts. I'd suggest Electronics V & Energy Pulse Weapons V and adding a new non-trial skill with those as the prereqs. ------ Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant tanking |

Energy Pulse Weapons V sounds good with something like 'Detonation triggers' as the prereq for the module.
I'd like to see it work with any ship with a cargohold, but just not really be worth it in anything smaller than an indy.
Cruisers with like 2-300m^3 wouldn't have much effect, but an expander fitting exequror or cargo frigate might work a bit better?

I'm thinking WAY smaller than that, and also fairly easily defended against - just pop it before it gets within 5k of you. Basically, I am talking about a 1-time use smartbomb with expanded range and damage, and the downside of killing you to use it. Oh, and a ship.

Cargo detonator. High slot module.
Damage = to combined damage of all warheads and ammo in cargo, also some arbitrary value for fuel exploding.
Range = Inverse square law applied to damage of blast.
Also, freighters should get one high just for this. If its worth it to you to blow a billion iskie ship for the show, you should be able to do it. I personally would liquidate my assets to fill my freighter and nuke it at Jita 4-4 if I ever quit the game. |

I got it. The only industrial ship to be able to handle the detonator module's complicated electronic systems are the T2 transport ships. Bustard and cousins, but not the blockade runners. so instead of losing a 500k Badger you are throwing away a 60mil ship. Area of effect would be a concern as well. I'd say no greater than 10km.

Edited by: Alexi Johns on 01/05/2007 01:11:48 just make it a hi slot detonation module that requires fuel like a cyno gen, maybe some kind of ice product can be used.
For story purposes make the tech based of cyno field gens, it starts a field then destabilises it and boom
When you activate it it sticks you in place andd counts down similer to gening a cyno
edit : also make it unable to activate in anything bar 0.0
For balance i would say all the same skills for cyno's + energy pulse V + new skill to reduce time till critical mass
