Hi. My computer yesterday pretty much constantly crashed/blue screen, when playing even. I do not know if it is game related or hardware/other software problems other than the games. Anyway, I lost all my folders, quick bar folders, that I setup in the market screen. I had so much items in them and it is going to take a long time to setup back. Please can you make it that we can save it on your hardrive? we can have 2 buttons/tabs; one for "save" and one for "load". When we press the "save" it ask the path for it to save to i.e. "c:\Eve market folder" a person may put to save on his/her hardrive and when "load" button/tab is pressed it asks to input the path of the quick bar market folders i.e. "c:\Eve Market Folder" the user may put.
So, in case everything resets, like it does now for me because of the computer crashes or whatever, a person does not have to put things in quick bar and make quickbar folders all over again.
Thanks. |

That is already possible. All the settings like market quickbar, used overviews and settings are stored in char files under %appdata%/local/ccp/eve/*a folder named after the installation path of your eve game installation*/*settings folder*. I have been having bluescreens due to EVE as well for quite a while now and sometimes EVE scraps (some of) the existing settings files. After a couple of quickbar/settings restorations, I keep saving the settings folder in a zip archive in regular intervals, which I have stored in that folder for easy replacement of the faulty settings folder as well as another harddrive in case of catastrophic failure of the main drive.
What bugs me the most is that EVE forgets/overwrites these settings files with new empty files randomly after a bluescreen. I would understand if the game overwrites all settings files, but sometimes not even all settings from the same account are overwritten.

Thanks Rivr Luzade.:) Still I wish the game company would make a built in to save all settings(all user preferences), not just the spoken, So we can restore whenever we want. |

It is a driver issue, but it's nearly impossible to figure out which (reference_by_pointer, which can be anything according to MS). And since alt-tabbing takes ages under Windows 10, I have to use Fixed Window (ie borderless window).

If you loose settings after a crash it probably means that the crash occurred while the game was writing that file. This would have left the the file half written and unusable. The game has no choice but to scrap it and start fresh. It would be nice if the game made a backup of the settings before saving. That way the game has somewhere else to load the settings if the file gets corrupted.

Hey, I am very sorry to hear that. Have you tried "clear cache" and all the other usual suspects?
Not to brag but it says Window$ or better and since I am running on Linux, EVE stopped crashing or deleting settings.
Overpowered:
You can get to your settings by restoring an earlier version of the c:\user\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\ *tranquility* or similar by right-clicking the folder and choose "restore earlier.." or similar.
It's called volume shadow copy if you want to know.

I've had the same thing happen, I think the cause is Eve actively has these files open because they store things like window positions and other stuff the game needs to remember between client sessions. Depending on how the game crashes these files may end up corrupted, or at least the game may think they're corrupted, so when the client starts again it creates a new file to replace the old dead one.
The client could possibly make a backup, or create "live" versions of these files and then overwrite the old ones, but that's about the only way to remotely avoid this sort of corruption, and it could still occur if the game crashes during close or doesn't close cleanly. |

I fixed the Blue screen thing, it was hardware issue, not Eve causing it. Eve is playing great now. |

Any update, Developers, on the feature to Save our Settings and folders in game?
Please make a "save settings" button + a "Load Settings" button, for us to save and load our settings from our hardrives in game.
Please save the following with the proposed feature: Our Folders+the things located in them(i.e. blueprints, vessels, structures, structure parts) Our Ships+Structures Fittings that we saved in game in the fitting screen Our Personal Locations Our General settings(i.e. sound settings, graphic setting, etc.)
Note: Please allow us to copy and paste Folders+individual items in the Quickbar market screen.

If you didn't ignore me, you would know where that folder is by now.
