Should I fit a MWD to this thing or stick with an afterburner? Everyone seems to be wearing a MWD these days and I don't want to get left in the dust by somebody in a cruiser or battlecruiser.
With a T2 afterburner, I go about 580m/s. With a named MWD, I go about 1400m/s.
With the burner, I can fit 3 T2 neutrons. With the MWD, I have to go with Ions because of CPU shortage.

Edited by: Acinonyx Jubatus on 29/04/2007 10:08:49 First off, blasters will probably get you killed anyways.
I'd fit rails on it, not blasters, unless you know you can survive nos/web/smartbombs.
Rails/nos + drones are already fairly decent for offense against select ships, blasters are great for dps but the three main issues I've state above will turn that extra dps into nothing.
With that said it's not much difference... however I've only really ever used AB2s on my Ishkurs, which work fine if you know what you're doing and stay in a drone support range. I can't say much on mwds....
Edit: Speaking of tank, these things can take one heck of a beating :P
I once almost(note almost) killed a blasterax with an ishkur. I got him down to below half armor and I had no cap due to a nos, but still a fair bit of armor left, I was struggling against his drones and blasters while I relied on 5 Hobgoblin2s...
Then suddenly, I'm hit by a manticore and thanatos... end ishkur.

Edited by: Marquis Dean on 29/04/2007 10:06:13 The dps drop from Neutrons to Ions isn't very great, and the Ishkur doesn't have a small hybrid damage bonus afaik, so you can probably take that hit without worrying too much.
I'd be more concerned about the hit your cap will take when fitting a mwd. If you're in a gang you're ok with an ab. If solo, go with the mwd, fit railguns and a nanofiber aswell and speedtank it, shooting from 15km.
edit: it does have a small hybrid dmg bonus, but you're still better off with rails. ---

lol, dont use a mwd... missiles will *****you and thats about it. thats basicly what happened to me when i tried it lol. not to mention the 25% reduction in cap. using an ishkur i have beaten a rupture but then he didnt have any nos :) which is basicly an insta win button against any AF, except maybe minmatar

AB II tbh. Orbit your target at 500m with still pretty reasonable speed and keep your cap intact.
Also, 4 nos setups are interesting.

I don't like all NOS set-ups tbh. I always put blasters on my Myrmidon and I'd fit blasters to a Domi if I had the grid for it :P

Use a T2 AB, 75mm T2 rails and a small NOS. Works wonders.

Because of the robust cap on the ishkur it has a great deal of tactical flexibility.
If your hellbent on building a MWD close combat ishkur I recommend going with EC drones (typically 2x EC-600s and 3 x EC-300s) and then fit t2 blasters and a nos (if you can fit it).
The EC drones provide you with a bit of a screen (albeit chancy) and the DPS is quite good.
I'm personally a fan of the long range ishkur and occasionally play with an ECM multispec on it but the close range one works fairly well, I didn't believe it until I saw a buddy of mine go out with it and WTF pwn his opponents.
