I cannot get a working copy of the eve client from the e-online download link.
The download works fine, however the setup.exe is corrupted.
I tried downloading on both my linux box and my windows system so far both times with the same result.
I also did 2 downloads with different download managers just to be sure , both report no errors during download.
Is there an alternative link ? Or a workaround ?
Thank you for your help.

I had the same problem too. So i got my computer diagnosed for free and, it turns out that one of my RAM sticks was bad. So i took it out, trashed the installer and DL it again, and it worked fine without that dialogue error. I hope this helps :)

Hi all!
Well, same problem here too. Strangley, I had installed and played EVE on this machine until yesterday (purchased late March 2007 with Vista, Intel Dual core) when the intial log-in screen hung and could not be persuaded to let me log on. Microsofts site gives this set up a rating of 4 incidentally (not state-of-the-art admittedly but reasonably powerful according to them).
Tried re-installing from my original (presumably) working client copy I downloaded on 30th March this year (alss have patches saved locally too) but got a message that the file was corrupt. I downloaded again this evening with the same result
Whilst I understand the problem may well lie with my machine I am totally flummoxed as to how to proceed with rectifying any problems. Windows reports no problems, Windows updates are enabled and I run BOINC with no diificulty (and as a number-crunching programme, it certainly stress-tests the machines components.
Any ideas, please, as to what I might do eg check next?
Thanx for reading!

Just happened to me last night. Vista Home machine had been running fine for last three patches. Then last night, it hung on the Revelations intro picutre and didn't go to login. So un-installed and downloaded new client. Executed setup and I get about 2 dozen error messages for files that won't write to the computer.
I tried it on my XP work machine and the client works fine. I think it's a Vista bug, but I don't know enough about it to be able to tell except for the test download on XP. Can we get a CCP response to this?

Yes, exactly my findings too Rook. I didn't say in my original post above that I can still connect to EVE on my XP laptop (fortunately! ) I was able to play EVE on this machine (two patches installed since being purchased but - as you describe - yesterday (well actually last night like youself - I had logged in in the morning UK-time to check training times, etc to compare with EVEMon readings). At night (around 1800 GMT) I only had the Revelations image which remained on screen for about a minute(?) and then simply disappeared ie including the task bar. No log-in screen - so very similar to what you describe.
Anyone else running Vista noticed this please?

Guys I have an idea what it is. I used to play a free mmo called rappelz, and the same **** happened to me. I have a hunch the same quick fix will work. What you guys need to do, is disable your firewall and antivirus scanner while downloading it, because for some reason it would corrupt the file as it was downloading. I just redownloaded eve and it worked fine when I turned off my security. Try that and see what happens. Cheers.

Edited by: EVECaronyx on 06/05/2007 19:15:52 Hi all!
Thanx to the info here, I have been able to reinstall - and play - EVE on this Vista machine.
1 Please note that I had previously downloaded the client and two patches since purchasing this machine in late March.
2 I disabled my anti-viral/ spyware/ firewall package.
3 I right-clicked on the downloaded EVE client and used "run as Administrator" option. (I am not sure if this was essential or not)
4 The client, nevertheless, unpacked perfectly (previously I had problems, with messaages claiming the file was corrupted, much as the screenshots show above).
5 I installed the two patches in the same way ie still with anti-virus, etc, disabled and right-clicking "Run as Admin".
6 Following all this, I nervously clicked the EVE shortcut and - hey presto! - the program was back again!
Nothing approaching "rocket-science" here but, believe me, it was quite a blow to have had a working copy of EVE "disappear" suddenly and without warning - it is good to have it back once more!
Thanx to all who gave advice - and to those still struggling - DO try disabling the anti-virus software, etc, you have on your machine - and possibly - running as Administrator too - it worked really well for me!
EDIT: typo's on "Anti" (Note to self - "anti" NOT "anit" )

Let me say again
I tried everything, the only thing that REALLY worked, was upgrade my ram memory from 256 to 1gb.
The rest I dont know if really worked, for me was something more like "attemp and error", try try and try, sometime youmight be sucessfull, like I was before upgradinh my ram memory.
