1 - 56 you have to pick 5
then 1 - 46 you have to pick 1
for a total of 6 numbers
how many sets of numbers can you make? I love the the smell of victory in the morning. It smells like... Blood, vomit and burning flesh. I Like You. I'll Kill You Last. |

im looking for the total number of sets you can have with out having any set be the same set of numbers
as in 12345 - 9 is the same as 53421 - 9
but 12345 - 9 is not the same as 12345 - 7
i'm looking for the total number of sets that you can make with out using the same sets of numbers over in a different order
its up in the millions( 10million +) I love the the smell of victory in the morning. It smells like... Blood, vomit and burning flesh. I Like You. I'll Kill You Last. |

1. I'm not doing your homework for you. 2. The question is badly defined, as it doesn't specify the maximum number of possible entries, or just the most probable number of possibilities. (if the first set is all between 47-56, then the number will be higher, since the last set is out of 46 possibilities) 3. This is a fairly simple nested nCr function, use a calculator. |

really this is a problem from the US lotto, and im starting to think its riged because when the prize gets to over 200 million someone wins it every time
and if i new how many tickets some one needs to buy at $1 each to get 1 of ever possible set of numbers so that no matter what numbers come up they have that set.

You are now speaking more in terms of statistics. Unless you manually do each and every lotto entry, your chances of getting every possible combination of entries via computer-chosen random numbers is terribly slim (on the order of "nigh impossible").
Each individual ticket has the exact same odds of winning regardless of how many tickets are sold. That said, there are much better chances of a winner if 10 million tickets are sold as opposed to 2 million tickets are sold. |

its completely possible to sit down and PICK by hand all of the numbers
i want to know if the number of tickets to get ever number combination is < 200million tickets
if it is its just luck that someone wins it ever time, if its > 200million there's a rich guy some where abusing the system.

What did I win?
Edit - For your hypothetical lottery, the odds are 1 : 175,711,536. |

but dose that math account for 12345 - 1, 54321 - 1, 15243 - 1, and so on all counting as a winning ticket?

Yes.
56 possible balls, of which 5 will be chosen. = 3,819,816 possible combinations. 46 possible balls, of which 1 will be chosen. = 3,819,816 x 46 possible bonus balls
total odds = 1 : 175,711,536
--- for the math nerds out there... here is how I manually checked the odds... (5/56)*(4/55)*(3/54)*(2/53)*(1/52) chance of any one of my 5 numbers coming up on the first draw, times any one of the 4 remaining coming up on the second draw, etc. |

you still haven't told me how it filters out 12345 - 1 and 54321 - 1 being the same thing

so the lotto is broken, tho rich dicks can just buy the lotto if it gets above 200million that's kinda gay if you ask me
it only costs 175million dollars to have a 100% change of winning the US lotto so when it gets over 200million thats why someone wins it ever time. I love the the smell of victory in the morning. It smells like... Blood, vomit and burning flesh. I Like You. I'll Kill You Last. |
