Ya I know been in the game for a while. Always been told not to join the militia.
Why not? If no one joins it why is it there? What is the militia for???
Thanks,

Just an opinion.
Just like anything, you'll find people for and against anything in eve. Hence, the diversity in roles.
Factional Warfare is fun but takes a certain appreciation of role-playing, and comradery. But it is
definitely worth trying to see if you enjoy it.

In my experience it's been pretty crap on the Caldari/Gallente side of things. Everyone's a spy, blues shooting blues, good leaders abandoning ship, etc. It used to be a good place to roll as a newbie but all each side really wants to do is just get cheap kills, even against newbies, in case they're really spies.
I can recommend the Amarr/Minmatar side, even if I was in it for only a short time. Good comradeship, good fights either solo or in small groups. Very little political b.s. - the only downside is that the top guys will pretty much ignore you until you prove yourself, which is always the hardest thing to do in FW - getting kills. You get kills, you get into fleets much quicker.
Biggest tip I can give you though - if you do FW, make sure you do it properly. I attempted it half-arsedly a number of times and ended up frustrated that I couldn't make it work on a part-time basis. If you're in it, you're in it to win it - so to speak. And make sure you can fuel your habit ;) |

The main reason not to join the militia is because you'll ruin your faction standings towards at least one faction.
That's because most of your isk making opportunities involve killing opposing faction in some fashion.
Other than that it's pretty good - you can find some solo or small gang fights, make some nice isk, learn to pvp, etc
As everything in Eve it's better enjoyed as part of a good corp, but if you're just after the isk, you can keep a solo alt in there. |
