well hello every one i know this might not be the right place to post but i kind a had to start somewhere this forum is kinda big ^^ i am totaly new to the game have a few friends that are playing and helping me but i dont wanna bother them with every silly thing i wonder so if anyone that reads this feel they have the time to reply with some answers it would be great =)
list of some silly things i wonder.....
is mining going to become better then doing missions in the end if you wanna farm money ?
is it posible to defend your self later on in the game as a miner or are you just a easy prey that everyone hacks on ? ^^
is there any missions that are pure mining i have heard some talk about that ?
and last is mining one of the harder things you can go from the start ?
thanks for reading all of this and have a nice day
Working on it... |

1: It can be quite profitable, but so can missioning, you just have to figure out whats the most fun for you. Mining is hardly my idea of fun though I quite often dable in a little when there's some nice ores to get. 2: You can defend yourself to some degree as a miner, but it will never be as good as someone in a PvP fitted ship guarding you. 3: I believe the mining missions were removed, I cant be sure, I've never looked for them. 4: From the start its possible to create a very successful mining character that will take very little time to get into the mining barges. ______________________________

Later in mining you can tank (protect) your ship well enough that you should be able to get away from most enemies.

1. Used to be. After the Zyd price crash not so much. Plus you need to be mining in 0.0 to compete with the 0.9 mission runners.
2. Faction fitted Hulks are known to drive off frigates...that's about it though.
3. Mining missions are probly still around but they suck
4. Mining is one of the easiest (hence boring) thing to do. Only danger comes from players really, but when they're not around you just move ore around every 1-3mins.

Little noob, do not listen to these empire inbreds.
Do not go mining, what you want to do is join a propa corp and murda scum, like the ones in this thread who encourage mining...

You can do very well mining, but I find in my short time in Eve that it is best to work on alternative roles as well. I suspect that singular trick equines fall short in Eve. You say you have friends in game, then I would suggest working with them to be good direction. You will need a mining ship, then a hauler, then a gun boat.. and make it a good one.. In about that order. Upgrade continually. Many do pvp for fun but I would worry more about the motivated capitalist who sees profits in the red. Think outside the box for the inhabitants know this place far too well.

If you plan on staying in empire your best bet is missions.
If you're going to join a player corporation and eventually hit 00 space, mining might work out better.
Reason being you can only make so much money mining in empire (sorry chribba ). Whereas profit differences from empire missions and low sec missions won't be as huge.
In my opinion, of course. ------------------------

if your going to be a miner, do something with the minerals I think if you start building your industry skills and PE (I can't remember the name of it at the moment) skills you can sell a ship for more then you will get with the minerals. you can get cheap BPCs from the contract system. Check all purchases from the contract system carefully before you buy. Make the ship and then sell it, when you start getting enough minerals you can built a few ships.
I have a BPO of a destoryer which is generally sell for about 890k to 900k a pop and generally make 5-10 of them at a go, takes a while to make but i think you would make more money doing this way then just selling the minerals.
but thats a newb suggestion to a fellow newb

Originally by: Corwain 2. Faction fitted Hulks are known to drive off frigates...that's about it though.
If in Empire and someone is going for a suicide gank it takes (IIRC) 3 battleships in full gank mode to pop it (assuming the Hulk has a faction tank). Fortunately chances are very good the attackers will lose more on that one than they gain.
A Hulk can tank many of the 0.0 battleship spawns as well.
In the end though still a mining barge and if you are low sec or at war a solo Hulk will likely be a dead Hulk to most players. They may have to pound on ti a bit but will get there.

This is probably the best mining guide you will find anywhere.
The prices he speaks of are no longer correct, but it's a pretty safe bet that no mission runner can earn what a maxed out miner can if he is a member of a corp firmly planted in 0.0.
The gankers can say whatever they like, but mining is the lifeblood of eve.
