Quote: Pandora.com, the popular net radio station that helps users discover new music and build custom playlists, will block most people outside the US from accessing its service because of legal pressure being exerted by record labels.
So, RIAA decides it's a sterling plan to shut down one of the best sources to discover new music, a service that I am 110% certain does nothing but increase record sales.
Free marketing? Nah, can't have that....

That's what all non-us peeps have to do but they are about to start enforcing that rule by checking IPs ;.;

They just need thier wake-up call. Every company forgets something: The Internet is like a flood, the users being the water. Leaving it to flow naturally allows the least resistance. Blocking it just builds up pressure and eventually causes the dam to fall.
They're gonna be gone soon, lol. -Sig- Looking for mayhem, killing and theft? We got it! Green Gecko Inc. is recruiting!

Damn RIAA :/ atleast it still seems to work for me in the UK, that and to quote the link.
"Pandora has been working to secure licenses to stream music to non-US listeners, but other than in the UK, has made little progress so far."

Edited by: Lumy on 04/05/2007 16:22:21 False ZIP code does not help any longer, Pandora is checking for IPs. If you are outside of US, you'll get nice message like this: Quote: We believe that you are in Slovakia (your IP address appears to be 89.173.*.*). If you believe we have made a mistake, we apologize and ask that you please contact us at [email protected]
I guess I'll have to look for proxy (or something).
There are far worse news. I'm afraid Pandora (as the most of internet radios, too) will be over for everyone in about 2 months. Due to massive increase of licensing fees. Check interview with founder of Pandora.

sadly we here in the US are subjected to the RIAA overlords for any legally aquired music, and i highly doubt that a Boston Disc Party would have quite the same impact against the music industry as the tea party did against the king.

my opinions on the music industry is similar to most the "sports" stars these days, they all just money machines, half the English premierships are more celebrities than actually sportsmen these days and the music industry just has the odd tallented person come through, other than that its a team of 30 peopel with sum half decent looking puppet to prance around miming on stage, i personally make it a point not to buy a cd single or album until i think it deserves it, the rest the time i'll download from P2P. unlike most artists in music industry i actually work hard at my job and dont feel i shud part with my very limited cash on sum half ar$ed album. places that offer free/low budget new music allow the actually talented bands/performers come through, the only trouble is the big record companies dont like to feel they are losing control of summat that will make them even more money for basically doing feckall.

Hmm... perhaps if you threw the discs at their executives, it might be effective. ____________________________________ Caldari by birth, Minmatar by citizenship.
