I'm no computer expert but it seems the hacking minigame is poorly optimized given the following test:
- Intel dual core 3 Ghz / GeForce GTX 460
- Resolution 1024*768 (tested in fullscreen, windowed and fixed window). Also tested in 1280*720 as it is the lowest resolution with the same ratio as my native resolution, in case it makes a difference
- No other application running
- All visual efffects disabled
- All settings to None/Low
- No sound
- Maximum zoom out to avoid 3D structures in the hacking site, in case it makes a difference
Result: constant FPS drop when clicking nodes. even worse when clicking on viruses or the core. It's a shame because everything else in the game seems to be fine but hacking is not, even with extreme potato settings. |

That is very true and very annoying, especially when working on ghost sites. Actually in all cases.
I'd say I have a full one second delay from the time I click on a node and the time it shows what's beneath.
Not good.

That makes sense because if it was the onboard gpu my client would probably be struggling all the time. Instead the only situation where it struggles is when I'm dealing with the hacking interface. Everything else is fine.
Also I've noticed the "easy" hacking grids (green core) have slightly less stuttering than the "hard" ones (red core). |

Now when i have only one client open hacking screen FPS if fine, But when I have 4 cliemts open, not doing anything just docked, there is a considerable drop in FPS when the nodes are being exposed. |
