As a very casual passive income i am attempting to make robotics, however i am not so sure if it is worth the effort from what i can see robotics needs 10 mechanical parts and 10 consumer electronics and i get 3 robotics
rounded prices i can possibly sell for on market
10 mechanical parts 13.5k = 135k 10 consumer electronics 14k each = 140k
so 275k for the above
3 robotics
112k each direct to buy orders so 336k
is it worth doing ?
am new to this so any advice appreciated |

PI works best if you build it into something. For robotics I build it into T2 weapons and T2 drones. Very profitable. If you are working in highsec you will need to factor the import/export taxes into your calculation. Unless you have the customs code expertise skill at level 5 and a low player tax it probably isn't worth making P3 - simply sell the P2 or build it into T2 modules.
I'm paying 8% export and 4-5% import in highsec - not sure if the player tax is reduced for import or only the NPC portion. In nullsec there is no NPC tax so expect to pay 0-4% if you a member of the alliance that owns the POCO. |

If you want casual, low maintenance passive income from PI, P2/3 isnt always the way to go, especially in hisec. The associated taxes, unpredictability of the owning corporations/alliance being total ****wads and taxjacking when least expected, shipping to and from planets to maintain 100% uptime (almost impossible in hisec without a drastic or horrendously inefficient setup) make it harder for hisec to bring in the big isk, so to speak. P1 is generally a safe option for low maintenance/effort income, but still cant/wont compare to the likes of nullsec or wormholes. Mainly because hisec planets are often total trash extraction rates for anything longer than 24 hours.
That being said, going up the PI chain is almost always worth doing. and if you check https://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/pi/ you can see exactly what's profitable, and what's better being sold as it's materials rather than whole. |

P3 production is always borderline in terms of profitability compared to opportunity costs. I recommend going with P2 production or taking it all the way up to P4 production. |

There's some (afaik 1) P3 that will almost, far enough I'm confident enough to say at least 99% of the time, will be profitable over what P4 commodities it'd chain into. Robotics, being used for a wide variety of t2 drones as well as all 4 fuel block recipes, will be a profitable PI commodity to manufacture. |

Well there is a Volume decrease as you go up the chain (not so much of P4) so at the very least you can export less from the WH and save on mass. Might not be worth the effort to dedicate a planet to the process and all the extra shipping ect. |

For what it is worth: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=5260575#post5260575
Doing extraction in hisec is not very profitable, but building stuff can be if you have decent POCO rates.
One of the most common mistakes is quality vs. quantity. The higher tier PI products may sell for more, but their output quantity is very low. It is often more profitable to sell lower tier PI products, if the market can support the sales volume.
You need to look at the prices at every tier, and factor-in costs like import & export taxes. |

By the way, other problem. FINAL SPACE used.
I have in null sec aprox 31752352 units of noble metals. I know are 10584.12 factory cicles. Sound as a bad idea, but if i want use that need process it too. And if u want export via citadel / safety or via jump freighter, you need less space used. Consider too the transport cost.
Example : 317532.52 m3 is too much space, and in p1 form you can use it for other things. As example, i had a suprlus of water enough for a freighter. I was processing to water, and hold the water, later transforming with plasmoid in superconductors.

A year or so ago I burned out extracting and producing IRD's. Shipping only P4 to Jita was a good way to address the volume problem for sure.
If I was to do PI again Adam4EVE looks the place to go when developing a plan:
https://www.adam4eve.eu/pi_rank.php
Amazing tool... and look, extracting and producing IRD's is still top of the chart! Requires a partner or two, or not-insignificant determination.
Meanwhile I think this is the chart that mostly matches the OP's question:
Profit history for Robotics - buy from buy orders, sell to sell orders
