I've brought this up a few years ago, without too much response, but the thread about 'I'm quitting, what do YOU do with your stuff when you stop playing?" brought me back to my own personal pondering about the issue.
So, I have this hobby, for almost 10 years which involves many ppl I consider friends and a few from those who I consider "Best friends". With this hobby I have accumulated a lot of stuff that my family has no use for, nor interest in.
It would be nice to have *some* way of making a virtual heritage, where, if I die, my assets would be given to someone, or my corp. So instead of fading and leaving nothing behind I would leave some nice ISK to use for new players, support corp stuff etc etc.
At this moment this is NOT possible, unless you want to break the EULA. Trying to teach my 55 year old brother how to log in and hand over assets is just not feasable, but handing my login details to another player is even more breaking the EULA.
What are your thoughts about this? Would there be a acceptable way to create a heritage document which describes which assets / ISK should be transferred to who? Would CCP be willing to enable this service somehow?

I knew about a case or two when such happened. Those are touching stories that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. The last thing I ever thought when hearing those is that it's against the ELUA.
I'd say state in the thread later that you understand it's bad and you'd never do such thing, and do it when noone's looking.
If you can't think of a straight, reliable and honorable player to handle this for you, just contact me!

Maybe we could also have ingame marriages and prenuptial agreements =ƒÿä
I think the sentiment is good but not sure how you'd manage something like this and dont forget that this is EveGäó so I'm sure there would be new scams to come
In all seriousness in such a case I think you do have to bend the EULA a bit and this is definitely a special case but please be careful who you set this up with. I feel like I've crossed some forum rule just now. =ƒÿà

If only EVE could know you are officially dead... There is no way of knowing if one is now. It must be something outside the game. Last will? CCP is not obligated to do stuff like that because they are not relatives, but what if some relative could do that for you? You would have to provide them with account details and your will.
In other cases you can transfer stuff yourself easily, not character of course, as it would still require some hassle from CCP.

Interesting idea, but personally I have more concerns about who to give my RL stuff to when the inevitable comes to pass.

There are 86,400 seconds in a day. You just saved one of them by typing 'u' instead of 'you'.-á Congratulations, dumbass!

So I had a friend with an interesting take on leaving stuff to someone or insurance for that matter when they were gone in RL. They said they were never going to give their stuff to someone or make them the beneficiary of an insurance policy because they wanted to make sure people would be SAD when they passed.

Well mebbe ask CCP.
They could include this in the EULA if they wanted to.
Seeing how i'm sentimental, i don't have a problem with my stuff, as long as my char is recycled and not given away.
If I die, 000Hunter000 dies.
Vice versa does not mean the same btw! LMFAO |
