When she tries to play Eve after about 5 minutes she starts getting super dizzy and cannot even look at the screen. She really wants to play and she is actually going to talk to her doctor about it next time she goes. It doesn't seem to ever happen on other games we play.
Was wondering if any one else has had a similar issue and if you guys know of anything that can help?

My friend has a similar issue with any first person perspective games. They also get sick wearing my oculus. They claim their senses tell them they are moving when they aren't and their brain has a conniption, |

Sounds like "simulator sickness". That article suggests some things that may or may not help. I hope it's something minor, 99 times out of 100 it is. |

I can not play EVE on full detail graphics because it makes me nauseous. I have to play in almost potato mode. There are several things that can cause it. For me and EVE its the interplay of the Ship graphics and the background, which is lessened when i Lower the quality. I have the same thing when I play Elder Scrolls, in that game its the field of view.
I would suggest trying different graphic setting.

You could try getting some cheap motion sickness tablets down the pharmacy and get her to take them half an hour beforehand and then play, see if that helps. If it does help then maybe she's getting motion sickness from the game. Happens to me with a small number of games because of the FOV (Fallout 3, Half Life) |

I get this when I let the client run at 120 fps. Turn up the interval so we're around 60 fps and I feel a lot better. |

Try disabling roughly everything in camera options - those that make it shake, bob, zoom around and such.
Alternatively, cover all the screen with windows. The space-part can be played well enough from the overview, and EvE has many more aspects than the internet spaceships.

At first I was going to say what fun would EVE be if you had to be stoned to play it, then i realized that is a solid gold solution. |

You have to diminish the motion sickness.
You can try playing on smaller screen or in window, with all Camera Settings like Camera shake, Dynamic camera movement, Camera bobbing turned off. Also zooming out the view of the orbit camera could help (Alt+zoom out with scroll wheel).

Perhaps she is too close to the screen or the screen is too big?
Over the last year my landlord left an Xbox 360 in the house and I hooked it up and took the opportunity to buy some used Halo games and catch up on the genre. I like some good FPS actions once in a while.
But what I found was this: originally the house had an old 25" CRT television but during a power outage the crazy landlord hooked up a generator wrong and totally baked the TV. So he went and replace it with some monster sized flat screen thing.
So when I started using that to play the FPS game, I started to get sick. (Being an old hat to seasickness from having worked for a retired Navy SEAL in the SCUBA field, I soldiered on out of habit for in those days I could barf in mid-sentence and still finish what I was saying).
In looking this matter up, it would appear that screen size and "field of view" play into this. I have seen some critiques of FPS games and VR whereby too narrow a FOV will cause motion sickness.
Therefore, see if you can adapt the FOV and or experiment a bit with the distance from the screen. That might help.

Thanks for the feedback all, I will work on all the camera and graphics settings and see if it helps any, she probably won't like the idea as she likes having all the "pretty stuff" turned way up on her games. Ordering a motion sickness bracelet too. |

super dizzy! read that and laughed as there is no such thing.
Eye test might help and no I am not being a troll as that can get her to understand or correct the field of view and depth. |

Eve doesn't support VR , some people are just so stupid or attention seeking. |

I have the same Problem with some First-Person-Shooters. It's like you getting Seasick after some minutes.
In my case it comes from "wrong" Field of view settings of the game. It happens mostly if the game was a console port or parallel release. If you play on a TV, you are much further away from the screen and so have another Field of view than if you sit in front of the PC monitor. Often you can solve the problem with editing a config file or sometimes there is also a slider in the options menu.
But i never had problems with Eve. Experiment a bit with the distance to the monitor or the height of the seat. Perhaps it helps. |

This is famous for helping BTW OP.
You could also try the Sensory Escalation Method. For GëíGïüGëí, I'd suggest something like her docking in a major hub, and simply getting her to undock and float for a bit (this would get her to get used to "random" objects like ship traffic, while familiarising herself with local landmarks). Rinse, repeat ad nauseum, you might need to re-dock her vessel for a while. If this works, do the same thing with her flying to (one in particular) stargate. Stage three would be to jump through it etc.
This would familarise her (possibly over quite an amount of time if her motion sickness is severe) with routine actions performed in-game. I'm quite an advocate of SEM, it helped me conquer PTSD after a brutal home invasion by 15 of my neighbours, and having to teach myself how to go outside. It's used by some who practise clinical psychology.
