All Greetings my fellow Pod Pilots.
My name is Corelous Alterrian, Some of you may know me, If you do, then you know that I am the Chief Diplomat Of the Intaki Liberation front.
I come to the Pilots of Placid not as a Diplomat but as a fellow Pilot to address the issue of the pirate threat in the Region.
We all have our own goals and many of us out here donÆt see eye-to-eye on all issues. The one thing we do have in common is our desire to conduct our affairs with out having to deal with pirates. Everyone knows that low sec is dangerous and that pirates will attack if given the chance, but how many of us have been the victim of the gate camp at Ostingele or at the Covryn gate? I would venture to say that all of our corps have lost some ships, ISK and mods.
Now we at the ILF are not foolish enough to think that the pirate threat can be completely stopped, But we as a whole can bring to them the havoc that that have rout upon us.
After reading the thread posted by ôVorada Kuvakeiö and debating with those who have posted replies and speaking with Mr. Saxon Hawke, CEO of the ILF, we have decided to call a Summit of all the Anti-Pirate forces in the Region to talk about what we can do as a group.
As the Diplomatic commander of the ILF, I would like to see all Anti-Pirate Corps send their Diplomat and CEO to this meeting. We are working on a time and date to hold this Summit, but since we all have different times and affairs plant side I would like to hear from The CEOÆs of each corps that plan to attend. Please Eve mail me so that a list corps that will be attending can be compiled.
I urge all of you to at least attend. Let us all Stand together.
Corelous Alterrian, Isha-Sunita of the Intaki Liberation front.

This has been tried SO many times...
Whilst I commend you for your efforts and thoroughly support your cause, I would be surprised if you get more than half a dozen serious offers of help.
People simply will not unite. Most of the more influential organizations are too tied up in their own affairs to care about a few pirates who occasionally blow up the odd freighter. Larger corporations simply factor in the loss of a few ships and ISK to pirates as they expect it to happen regardless.
So as I said you have my full support but I won't be holding my breath. -Rakiro |

I think you will find quite the contrary in my region of space young sir. However, here in the lowsecs of Everyshore, we see a gain from removing a threat.
If the pilots of the region do not see any financial gains in the short term, they will not see an incentive to possibly loose more assets than gain in removing a threat. ______________________________

One suggestion springs to mind: We have recently set up a channel called "Molden Intel" for the Molden Heath region. It's an open channel which anyone may join (though known pirate allies are kicked when identified), wherein people report pirate sightings and camps. Its open nature means any false intel is quickly identified and corrected, and by keeping people alerted to gatecamps it limits the numbers of people falling prey to such camps.
I'd strongly suggest you put something similar in place, if you don't have one already.

As a pod pilot operating mostly in Placid, I am delighted to hear such initiatives taking place. As my profession is mining and trading, I cannot contribute militarily to any such ventures, but I am willing to make (unfortunately not so large) financial or material contribution to any such efforts.
Having said that, I have observed (and experienced) pirate activities in the said Region, and do have my opinion about how best to suppress such activities.
1. Base matters more than peak If anti-piracy patrol is being considered, it would be better to mount a round-the-clock patrol of 10 ships than a 50-ship fleet available for 3 hours a day. Successful area patrol depends on participation of pilots with different time cycles.
2. Establish secure corridor Covryn - Iges - Dastryns - Ostingele - Agoze This corridor of 5 systems has high density of pirate activity because of their proximity to HighSec space. Securing this corridor will give pod pilots multiple routes to the rest of the Region, so they can plan a detour if pirates appear on one route. Ostingele-Agoze link in particular forms a choke point at the moment, so it has high priority for patrols.
3. Information is a powerful weapon Having a "Placid Pirate Info" channel that gives real-time information of pirate activities (locations, names, ship types) will allow pilots to detour systems known to have pirates, and will also help in compiling a list of pirates that can be used against them (as shown below).
4. Don't let them get away Share intel on pirate activities, and make all pilots who pirated at the above corridor (or any other systems designated as patrol areas) KOS by all participating corps/alliances. Threat of becoming KOS to multiple corps/alliances will give pause to any thought of casual pirating in the area.
Well, these are my 0.02 isks on the issue.

"Trust not Mercinaries for they fear niether man nor God"......Make Intaki free with it own people. Secure the space with a navy and concord and you pirates will leave. My Friend I believe you should stick to your intended purpose.

Well, i can confirm this as I am trying to do my part of keeping the THEM (The Movement) corp occupied. But there is only so much a single pilot with occasional total of 2-5 gang can do. I almost died several times. It is hard to fight outlaws when they don't engage with even numbers and still whine about learning pvp when you sit outside their station solo and they have 4-5 pilots at the ready and attempting to kill you and fail (docked in structure yesterday).
I am not sure how many can confirm this and are willing to confirm it, but I think I am one of the more active anti-pirate capsuleer pilot around there. There have been some limited succeses (some outlaw ships destroyed (1 by sentry fire alone)and no losses taken so far).

Organization and coordinated efforts for security and patrol operations are a must and I am all for any and attempts no matter how many times we have tried this.
Inter-Stellar Explorations is just returning to the region but you can count on my crew to join in, WE WILL HELP !!

I think it's funny how an organization that claims they want to "liberate" the Intaki people chooses an Amarrian as their representative to the universe. I guess real slavery is better than perceived slavery. _________________________________________________________

that is singularly unfair to Mr. Alterrian. Do not judge him by the stereotypes of his ancestry; a man is responsible for his own path to God.

Edited by: Saxon Hawke on 16/05/2007 17:58:26 Thank you Cometqueen, your voice rings with truth through space once more. As for Mr. Alterrian's involvement in our cause, I can only say that from my experience he has done far more than many of the Intaki bloodline.
His membership in the ILF was also addressed months ago. To refresh your memory I suggest you look to that thread.

It Troubles me that so many corps say they are anti-pirate and than not wish to be part of a Solution. To those who have signed to attend the summit, We at the I.L.F. look forward to working with you.
To those who haven't we still await your reply,
To Kage Getsu I have nothing to say but, I hold no ill will toward you. You were obviously speaking out of stupidity so I forgive you.

The only ones who are stupid here are the Intaki that trust an Amarrian. Then again, you shouldn't expect any kind of real intelligence from an extremist group. _________________________________________________________

Mr. Alterrian,
I never heard back after I contacted you. Now it sounds like you're insulting the corps that make regular sweeps of the region.
So which is it? Do you want to drive out the gate campers, or are you just posting on Gal-Net to make other groups look bad?

Perhaps he is busy elsewhere - lord knows I myself cannot gain access to my mail currently, hence why i have not contacted Mr. Alterrian myself. ______________________________
