Looks like GM made a mistake twice.
First when the give some other guy the role of CEO. (Or your buddies are flatout lying.) This shouldn't have happened since there is no reason whatsoever to anyone with a couple of braincells left.
And the second time when GM says its 'player vs player' issue. At least he/she could tell if the CEO was changed by vote or done by a GM. |

Edited by: Plutoinum on 11/05/2007 10:01:02 If the CEO has the majority of shares, it's his corp.
Well, the only exception that might be reasonable would be, if the founder and CEO are different persons, CEO disappears for an eternity and founder is still active director in that corp. Then it might make sense to give the corp back to the founder.
But otherwise: If I form a corp with a certain name and keep the majority of shares, then it means it's my corp. Doesn't change it, if I choose to go inactive for half a year. I'd be upset, too. ___________ Muuuhhh !!! |

Oye i feel sorry for ya. But first.. IBTL. Why? Not cause its a troll thread, but because CCP will delete and hide any and all proof that one of their people screwed up. Sounds kinda like the government i live under, good ole bush. Anyways, getting off topic.
In my corp, i am Co-CEO. The other Co-CEO (The guy with the actual skills to start a corp..) is a very close friend of mine. We..both have had to take time off so as not to burn out. Usually we time it so that atleast one of us is active. Second...the directors of the corp are also close friends. Its odd, the top brass of our corp lives in 2...areas. Around a town in kentucky and in florida. Thats it, its odd but it works.
As for what the GM Did...seriously..talk to a senior GM. If they dont do anything? Start hitting up Keiron (can NEVER spell the name right) or oveur's emails until something is done. If there had been a vote to place a new CEO..fine. But what the GM did was BS. If the people had a problem, they should have just left and reformed their own corp. As for the assests...they are the CEO's, even if others contributed. I will explain why in a philosophical sense. If there had been no CEO, there would have been no corp. If there would have been no corp, the people in it would not have been in a position to gain THOSE assests. Etc etc. Cause and effect.
Basically as I see it, once you put something in the corp hangar, it is the property OF the corp and its CEO. All BPO's in our corp are corp property, one of our few rules. They are tagged (Excel Spreadsheet) as to the original owner. If that member leaves and requests them...one of two things happens. Either they get them or we pay them the ISK value. Well..actually...one guy attempted to screw us over and his assests were frozen. Angered him a bit, but then again he did cost us a load of isk. Point being..anything in corp hangar is CORP property and thus because the CEO started the corp...their property. Thats the issue with putting things in the corp hangar.
Alot of folks are gonna go "Wahhh communism! Ebil ebil and it always fails". Yeh..sometimes. But may i point out Evolution...they are communist..and i dont need to comment on their success. (Note: I am not a BOB alt/spy/pet/etc. I just recognize success when i see it, simple as that).
So enough with the rambling... Go to a senior GM...if they dont help... Track down the reject that did this and pod him..repeatedly back to 900K SP. That..usually does the trick.
Delivering the kick to the jaw of society to stop it from drooling on itself like the ignorant slop it is since 1984.

Sounds like a joke tbh. CEO runs the corp. Theres no way that the GMs should change that regardless. If the CEO is voted up via ingame vote then thats fair enough, but for someone to remove the CEO is a joke.

:s Sorry to hear this story, but it all seems the norm for GMs and eve atm
CCP you need to train your GMs in Company-wide procedures, you may already do this, but lately with this issue and other issues, it seems that you have no set standards for your "school-leavers" to follow. WIth the current level of GM/Dev mistakes and Exploits being overlooked you are seriously making this game a joke to many.
damn it, CCP I've even been thinking of restarting my old WOW sub,
Been with eve for 2 yrs and hate what I'm currently seeing in EVE. For the sake of your PPLs and your jobs, please sort these current issues out.

So this is the standard now? Some corp member can pettition a GM for control of our corps if we dont log in everyday?
Foul Play....
To you future and current CEO's make sure you have the controlling intrest in the corp you worked so hard to make. Make SURE you control the majority of the stock. And never give complete access to anyone but your most trusted RL friends.

GMs need some kind of SOP for making decisions.
That SOP doesn't have to be public, but it needs to be written centrally and periodically reviewed.
Having every decision considered independently results in stunning inconsistencies and is highly open to abuse.
This isn't just an issue with a highly eccentric GM decision, this has affected all of EVE for a long time.

I don't see why PPL are flaming the OP.
The player could have left the corp and started another one.
AFAIK the only way to change the CEO if he is away is if there is a corporate vote and in fact we had to do it that way when a similar thing happened to my old corp about 2 years ago. In fact we were told by GM's exactly how to do it using the shares as we were clueless.

If I wanted as CEO to trash all the BPOs and give all the corp funds away to newbies I bloody well should be allowed to. Likewise if I CHOOSE my level of activity to be logging in once every 6 months THAT is my right.
Members of my corp can either like it or lump it. Either way, MY corp MY rules.
lol With that crappy atitude im surprised you even have corp mates. If he went and left everything and everyone for months then he deserves CCP to handover leadership, But as he made all the correct possible preperations (directors etc) CCP should have left this well alone.

Crappy atitude? Who said I actually run anything like that? Who said I was in fact my corps CEO? Attitude is different from a position on the rights of a CEO you know. Learn the difference.
If I or ANYONE for that matter choses to run their corp that way it should be their right. The members could either put up with it or leave and start their own corp... not petition to CCP to have the CEO's stuff stolen. What is your failure in understanding that?
What right is it of CCP's to interfear in internal corporation politics or member activity?
Who cares if the members "feel" hard done by because their CEO dissapears for a few extra weeks? Should CCP give the corp to a member ****ed off their CEO raised the tax rate a few percentages? no they shouldn't. Why? because they are a simple employee... nothing more to the corp. Easily replaceable. If they are worth anything to the corp they should demand shares... then if the CEO takes off they can challenge for leadership. Otherwise they should rat, mine and generally be productive and enjoy the benefits being apart of a corp provides.
Whining to CCP is for the lose or do you like the security blanket of CCP?

Lot of b*llox!
He said his account was active, meaning he pays for EVE. Also, the person that got the corp could have started his own corp. CCP should not get involved in this. How about I start claiming all the characters that are not logged in for 1 month!
Better when you take a break and you are CEO to give this role to someone else or remove all members so there won't be any issue.
I say you should get your corp back with all that you had at the time that you took a break! |

TBH centurian is right.
While I don't agree with how he left the corp and his corpies hanging, GM's shouldn't be passing corp roles to other players.
If assests have gone awol because of this then it should be for CCP to replace em.
The idea that any member of any corp can mail a GM and be passed CEO is just plain ridiculous.
Yes if your CEO tehn you should make adequate provision for your members if your away, but still a GM shouldn't be going there IMHO.
The members are free to form their own corp but the corps assets belong to that corp, it's kind of akin to a GM giving another players login details. :(

Edited by: Jacque Custeau on 11/05/2007 12:46:29 This is inconsistent with everything CCP has done in the past. My corporation had a lot of players that quit EvE in June/July of 2003. When I was looking to anchor a high sec POS and found that most of them were bringing the corp average standing down, I started kicking them from the corp (with an eve-mail explaining why). There were a few players I could not kick because of the shares they own, so I petitioned it. Almost 4 years since they quit EvE, no sign of them coming back, I figured if there was ever a chance a petition like this would be accepted, this would be it. Well no, I was told I had to vote them out.
Does not seem fair or acceptable that they reverse years of common practice and grant a petitioner's request in this situation. ------------------- 09:F9:11:02:9D:74:E3:5B:D8:41:56:C5:63:56:88:C0 |

CCP should resurrect some old viking tradition and put the GM head on a spear outside of the main office not because of the error, as anyone can err, but for the consequences.
It is almost impossible to correct the error without hurting a lot of people.
What is the stuff the OP should get back? What his corp had when he left? When the "replacement" CEO was appointed?
Where is it now? The POS, structures and modules are still in the hand of the "replacement"? or he has sold them? Someone should start EVE and discover he has -1 control tower and some more isk in the wallet?
If the "replacement" CEO has used the stuff to start a new corporation, what will happen to the member of that corporation when improvvisely and (for them) whitout motivation half of the corp assets disappear?
But if the error isn't corrected how often the same situation will repeat? People saying CEO XX has stopped playing, give me control of the corp. An if they are told no the will protest at it was done before, so it is their "right" to get control.
A royla mess.

im stuck in the postion that the op decided to dump his corpmates or flunkies as he seems to see them , my ceo has been awol for several months, and i have pettioned to have him removed from the ceo role, this is with the backing of my other corp mates, no before you start saying vote him out etc,, he owns all the shares so a vote is impossible, ive sat and watched as our orp dwindles away as we have no driving force, as a director you can do most things, but then why should you,, as so many have said the corp belongs to the ceo,, so why should i bust my butt to build it when he obviously cant be bothered, my other choice is to form a new corp and strip the old one of everything,, but wait that makes me into an ebil corp thief,,,,, oohhh nooesss if a ceo cant be bothered to log in then tough,, on a version of the imortal cry, " can i have your stuff" the corpmember will just " take all your stuff"
in reguards to a gm being involved,, good job,, i would hate to think you could take over a corp without one being involved, and i would assume its based on account activity not character, and im glad that you can be certified dead after a period of time, and i also know that its alot longer than 30 days, cause im waiting for my deadline hehe on my current ceo
all in all,, this is a mmorpg,, even if your not logged in it still carries on,, expect stuff to happen ))
so to all you ceos out there, and wannabe ones, remember you might create it, you might own it, and you better make sure you look after it, because there are ways to take it from you , piece by piece or sighed and sealed,,

I have seen this happen only once before, but in that example, the CEO had been banned from the game, so there was no coming back.
To reiterate others, this is your own doing, you turned your back on your corporation for 4 months, which in this game is a helluva long time. If I was one of your directors, I would have done what was best for the corp members at the time, and either voted for CEOship, or stripped the corp and made a new one so the pilots could grow again.
Either way, if you went awol on me for 4 months, you would not be returning to the same corp that you left high and dry.
Carlsberg dont make Eve Pilots, but if they did, i wouldnt be one of them.

Guys GM shouldnt switch Ownership in the First place. I had a corp that now dead with non active player for a few money and guess what. I cant have it because rules etc.
I not impressed with this and I do think the GM takes the **** time to time. Not Player vs Player issue this is Player Vs CCP Issue. CCP should stop dumping problem on player when they feck up.

Yes both were active and responsible people/players. Just one of those things where both had RL issues that took them away from the game as well. It was a bad sequence of events.

This sets a very bad precedent, bear in mind a lot of larger corps use a second account for CEO, that may only get logged in once in a blue moon to set new directors and such. How is CCP, or anyone else to know whether an "inactive" CEO is really inactive, and not just the real CEO's alt being petitioned by some joker who wants to hax the corp away from him.

Just a thought here.... I keep seeing posts about how long I was away. In my case Real Life gets taken care of first. If you all need to know I was in the middle of a divorce that was not going... well smoothly. I did my best by putting 2 people in a role that is as powerfull as the CEO but can not "take over". Guys and gals Stuff happens, cant plan for all of it. In the end I pay money to play this game. and I had worked over 2 years to build up what was there. True all the corp members played a part in building up that equipment. But that is why there is the "Run for CEO" option. If there are not enough active players to get the majority vote then its time to leave that corp and move on. But thats just my opinion. SO hopefuly this clears up the "abandoned the corp" issue.
