I have two ships, a Hyperion for shield tanking and combat, and a Noctis for scavenging. I was wondering if it would be better to rat with the Hyperion, collect the bounty and then carry on, or rat with the Hyperion, collect the bounty, jump back to the station, collect Noctis, scavenge, sell, switch and then go back to ratting? Which is the most efficient? |

It depends on what you want to do. Blitzing is always worth more per hour, but salvaging ( which is the correct term btw) will net you a lot of isk and goods for your time you can use to do other things with like producing your own items. The choice is what game style you care more about.
Have you heard anything I've said?
You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?
That's right.

Yeah, that does make sense I suppose. I do like combat but sometimes it can just get a bit click and shoot. Especially with 6 425mm Railguns , and i wanted to try something else. |

As Eternus8lux8lucis said. Most of it is up to personal preference. Blitzing is better isk/hr. But personally I prefer taking it slow and methodical (I run missions to relax not as a primary income source)
If you are going to salvage I HIGHLY recommend a salvage alt and a second monitor. With a little bit of multitasking you can salvage one mission as you finish the next.
If you don't have an alt/second monitor and you intend to salvage. Then drop down a mobile tractor unit in each room of the site as soon as you land. It will save you a MASSIVE amount of time and effort. |

I always salvage, partially for the value of the salvage, partially for a little post combat rest, and partially because I don't like to litter. My combat ships either sport a salvage unit or salvage drones so I don't have to go back to a station. When conditions are right I can shoot and salvage at the same time. I probably earn fewer space bucks this way, but that also depends on the value of the salvage. Some junk is worth more than others.

I have the Hyperion, do missions, and loot an salvage, the way I go about it is usually just to leave everything behind bookmark it and come back after. |

I wonder if it'd just be a good idea to have an alt in a ship with a decent cargohold and capable of using 5 salvage drones? Just set the drones out to automagically salvage while you keep on blitzing. When MTU is done and drones are done warp into next room and repeat. |

THAT is a good idea I might try that. What ship would you suggest? And what do you mean by alt( I am a new player)? |

Btw OP I think I actually prefer the term "scavenging" to salvaging. It sounds more violent, dark, desperate and more Eve like imo.

An alt character would be a character in a second account that you can use at the same time are your mission running characters account.
I'd suggest maybe the Exequror with cargohold expanders in the low slots, it's a faster train for a new player to get into and will cost less than a noctis (you're also going to need to buy the salvaging drone skill). Try recruiting yourself for an alt account and get 250,000 skill points on that new alt character. Then to get Omega status for cheap and a nice skill training boost for training buy a 'Core Starter Pack' and activate that on your alt account (look at G2A.com imo for a much cheaper code to activate on the account). Train Cybernetic's skill up to 3 imo to be able to buy and install 2-4 +4 learning implants (willpower, intellect, memory, perception). You can also just use +3's if the +4's are too expensive for you at the moment.
You now have an alt that you can use to help you salvage and do whatever else you want to do with it. Remember to also Remap for long trains based on the skills that are primary and secondary in the attributes for that skill. Those skills you later wish to train that take days can be significantly shortened by moving all attribute points into two skills to maximize training time (for a new character you have 3 Remaps available, it can take 1 year for additional Remaps to become available).
Hope this helps a tad more, sorry if it's a bit confusing but I hope it helps you out if you want to setup a new alt. |

The primary skill you get a 100% train for, but the secondary you get 50%, so always try to increase the primary more than the secondary in most cases to max out skill training per hour (might require a little math to figure out how to min/max it based on your remap and implants). Best SP/minute is 45 with +5 implants, and with +4 implants it's 43.
Hope this helps a tad more, sorry if it's a bit confusing but I hope it helps you out if you want to setup a new alt.
I will do that. That is a great idea thanks.

Then again I for some reason thought the Noctis required more training time, but anyway it is still more expensive. The benefit to training into the Exequror is that you can now fly various Gallente ships as well as a Vexor if you decide to join a nullsec corporation later on. |

I find looting/salvaging with a Noctis provides a nice rest from the grind. However, I only loot certain missions that I know have great loot, for example, faction missions such as Surprise Surprise will net you a good chunk of ISK in tags (and can be done without a standings hit to boot).
Once you have done enough missions, you'll get to know the ones that are worth looting, and the ones that should be blitzed.

Also, sometimes even if salvaging is less "isk/hr" it can save time elsewhere. For example if you can build your own rigs from a pile of salvage you already have in station then you don't have to go somewhere to buy them, especially if you are in an area where the market is not very good. |

When I do missions or combat anoms I usually do 2 at a time, bring 2 MTU's, drop one go to the next site and drop the other. Go back and get my salvager (noctis or salvaging dessy). I salvage everything and end up stockpiling it up over time. I build a lot of my own rigs and when I need the ISK for something fancy I'll sell off a bunch of it and am always surprised at how much I've accumulated.

The change in the salvage materials if CCP implements the loot change will be significant on those missions previously unwanted for looting and salvaging. Though amounts will still be lower with certain missions it might skew some decision making in the future for this skill path.
