The confessor costs about 33mil https://eve-central.com/home/quicklook.html?typeid=34317
Its platinum insurance only pays out 1.6mil; it is a T3 ship.
The purifier costs about 20mil https://eve-central.com/home/quicklook.html?typeid=12038
Its platinum insurance pays out 6mil
Why does the confessor pay out 4.4million less insurance than the purifier, when it costs 13million more?
1.6mil PLATINUM insurance payout on a 33mil t3 hull is stupid.
Am I missing something? |

T3Ds used to have almost all insurance covered early on so people would use them and use them they did for virtually free hulls. CCP then nerfed the insurance twice that I have seen from that to a decent but not overly huge payout, about 1/3- 1/2 of the hull cost and then to this T3 nothingness.
Ironically this brings it more in line with the T3s and even T2 insurance rates for usage though. I did rather enjoy the high insurance rates for them early on though.
Have you heard anything I've said?
You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?
That's right.
Had to end sometime.

If I recall correctly the payouts were much higher. Svipuls were basically 5-10m after insurance. It was unintentional and ccp nerf'd |

No, it is largely made of things the game does not consider "mineral". |

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of insurance? |

No, it is largely made of things the game does not consider "mineral". Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of insurance? The point behind insurance in EVE is to "lessen" the cost of a "loss." Not to remove it altogether. This gives relatively younger, poorer players the ability to go out and PvP more often.
However, the thinking is that if you can and are willing to afford a ship that is orders of magnitude more expensive compared to the base models (because you want better performance), you are neither young nor poor.
Ergo, you do not need "good" insurance payouts. Instead, you are going to have to pay for that performance increase in a number of ways.
How did you Veterans start?

It's a explicit downside to using T2, T3 or Faction ships. T1 ships are less powerful, but have better insurance.
You get more power from the other ship classes, but you risk more.
Woo! CSM XI!
