Good day!
The standard use of secure containers (SC) is clear and obvious due to its description.
I digged some info, which is dated to 2003 and 2006 years, where is explained how to use the SC in some different ways: while mining ore, to extend the cargo by 30-40%.
The uncommon use of SC is to assemble it at a station (set name and pass) and after drop it to your shipGÇÖs cargo to be used like station containers, just to secure the cargo goods after your ship will be destroyed (like these containers usually works while they are anchored into system below 0.7 security). You canGÇÖt assemble SC in space, - you can just drop and anchor GÇÿem.
So, this is true? It really works? Can you drop a SC into your ship cargo and have it securely dropped after your ship blows up?
If it is possible, then I have to set the pass anywhere or just at a low-sec station?

If memory serves me correctly, if it drops and you don't get podded instantly, and you are far enough away from items that you cannot anchor next to, it should be able to be anchored in 0.7 and below, if your in low/null/WH it won't matter anyway, they will kill it. |

The chance of a container staying intact after the destruction of your ship is random. The security level of the system doesn't matter, you can assemble a secure container and set password in any Station or Citadel where you have access to Items Hangar Bay.
Using an Industrial Transport ship filled with Giant Secure Containers to increase the amount of the ships cargo bay capacity is a very good idea.
I'm not sure but I think if a Secure Container locked with a password drops from a wreck intact, the contents can still be gained just by taking the secure container to Items Hangar Bay and selecting the option to repackage it. Also even if the Container is locked, it won't be anchored automatically, you need to launch it from your cargo bay and stay within 2500 m range to anchor it.

I think it just floats there and other players can just scoop the whole can, and since it then belongs to them they can just use it, I think the PW only applies if the can is anchored.

I loot a lot of secure and audit log containers form explorers I explode. For some reason they think It keeps their loot safe or something... It doesn't.
The can can drop just like any other item (if it drops, it will contain all items inside, the is no separate drop roll for the contents, this makes it a bit of an all or nothing affair...) once looted, I am now the new owner of the can, and have the option to retrieve the password, set a new one, reprocess the can, etc... |

Looks like trueGǪ it will work like Station Containers.

As I supposed it canGÇÖt be safe drop until anchored. Your capsuleerGÇÖs junk canGÇÖt be safer than your capsuleer.

They can't kill it if it's off-grid and they can't probe it down.
