For some reason I remember reading something about one that was supposedly slow/quite easy to kill , but would none the less assist in scrambling/disrupting the warp of a target.
I have not been able to find this mythical thing anywhere, so I'm now wondering if it was ever a thing to begin with (and if i was maybe reading something about a different game somehow).

You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friends nose.
Unless you podded them...and collected their corpse.

The "Siren" Carrier fighters have this ability. They only apply warp disruption and cannot apply the warp scramble effect. There are no regular drones with this ability. |

It's CCP shenanigans. Ridiculously OP as you'd expect. Not an item they ever made available to the playerbase, but it's implemented in-game and has been for god knows how long. Over a decade now, I guess.
When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.

With most ships having only 1 point of strength... they'd be hard to balance scramming drones... You'd have to like.. multiply every ships warp core strength by 500 and then sell scramming drones in the PLEX store that each do 50 points of disruption.

I remember seeing some in a database dump years ago. CCP obviously toyed with the idea, but for whatever reason decided against releasing them. I get it. Freeing up a critical mid slot and adding more points to your disruption effect would really throw off the PvP balance.
Signatures should be used responsibly...

But they're stll not good for fast tackle. You can apply scram or point 1 sec after lock, while your drones have to travel and have a locking time on their own. |

The disruption range itself is quite low 8km for T1 and 16km for T2 from the top of my head. They are relatively slow outside of their MWD cycle and can be outrun unless the carrier has fit heavily to augment fighter speed. The signature increase on fighters has also made them easier to kill, although they remain a reasonable threat.
